Hi folks, as some of you now know i have an e34 525ix (4WD) and i'm try to carry out a retrofitting of the cruise control as i used to use it all the time in my last car and miss it for the long journeys!
Ok - heres where the fun starts sorry to repeat possible old posts but how the heck do I do this?
I bought the servo / actuator that controls the throttle - and that plugs straight in to the existing wiring loom - and a double check reveals that the clutch switch is in fact already there too, but opening up the ecu revealed no space or connector / wiring for the cruise control ecu???? Surely the wires from the servo must go somewhere if they are built into the harness? Also getting the cruise control stalk is no bother but finding which spare connector under the steering column to plug into is a bugger!
Can anyone please offer advice if you have retrofitted C/C in these circumstances with lack of existing wiring in the ecu box?
many thanks
Chris

Just to tell you, most of the people on this site with e34s are from the us and canada, and all the e34s from there had cruise control as standard. In fact, I'm hard pressed to think of a car that didn't: even my 86 528e had it.
Maybe some M3s didn't, but in that case, it would be a source of pride to the owner. Try posting this on the e34 boards though.

No bother, will give it a try!
Thanks again!

Good news folks, got the servo motor attached to the appropriate bracket with the drive cable attached properly to the throttle bracket, just have to get the control stalk for the steering column and the control ecu and wire it in manually, but that should be quite easy!
It may even be working within the next few days!

Would anyone be able to show me photo's of their cruise control in position / and pictures of the control stalk on the steering column please?

More good news, went to the local car breakers and found a scrap e34 540, lucky for me it still had most parts inside despite being partly crushed. I got the obc control / indicator stalk, and the cruise control stalk for the lowly sum of £18, bout 30 dollars I think, and they both work to a certain degree - still have to get the control ECU for the Cruise though, It may even plug into the existing loom as the other parts have - Fingers crossed!
