Hey guys,
As of yesterday when my car (2000 528i) is cold, and I shift into reverse, I get this loud ticking sound, which peters off after a few seconds. When the car is warm, there's no ticking. It's loud enough to hear inside the cabin. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Check to see if it is related to your passenger side rear view mirror tipping downward to view curb when parallel parking. It has that feature when car is put in reverse and mirror switch is selected for that option. Just a guess.

I'll check on that...but I'm quite sure it's coming from either the engine or below the gear....

Transmission just cold ? Fluid to viscous (sp) until warmed up?

The weather's warmed up a little and no noise. I guess I'll wait for it to happen again....and then take it in.
