528 Sunroof Repair

I have a '97 528i with a faulty sun (moon?) roof. My guess is one of the tracks is broken, as the roof is loose and rattles a bit when driving. Also, although I got it to close, the roof does not open or retract easily.

My questions is...can this be accessed/fixed without taking out the headliner? Is it something I can get to from above?

Is it worth trying to fix on my own? I'm no expert, but am willing to try if not too daunting.

Yep thats the fix that Jamesdc link you up with

thats only if you cant tilt the sunroof up ..but your able to retract the sunroof fully back

i have that problem started during the winter ..will fix it when the weather gets nicer

Thanks all! I got it to close for now - but I'd like to fix and I'll give it a shot in the springtime!!
