So I bought a set of used SSR comps 17x9 and went to discount (northgate WA) to put some new tires on (Azenis RT-615's 235/40/17). I spent $115 per tire plus $80 to put them on so it really didn't end up being that much of a discount... anyways
The car and steering wheel were shaking at speed so I assumed the wheels were out of balance and that the new tires were going to take care of this. So after the new tires were put on and $540 plus tax later I was on my way.... the car and steering wheel kept shaking so I took it back to discount (another one in Renton Wa because I work down there and it was closer). The young tire kid told me that the RR was bent severly and that the other wheels were out of balance. (we know from before that Northgate supposedly did the balance and missed the bent wheel). So I take the car to Dependable wheel repair in Renton (very close to Discount) and Michael and Corey examine all 4 wheels and determine that all 4 are STILL out of balance and the RR IS bent but is fixable. They also inform me that I do not have hub centric rings for the wheels and that balancing is virtually pointless because the wheel shifts as soon as it is torqued down on the hub. Discount didn't bother to tell me this? Or that I had a bent rim? WTF? also, Corey fixed the wheel to perfection and balanced 4 wheels for me in less than an hour. try that on for size Discount.
I never knew what hub centric rings are and now that I do I can't believe that discount tire never mentioned that I needed them. WTF???? :confused
