View Full Version : Rev-matching = Oil Service Interval Way Down?

I began rev-matching the car, and, since then, my oil service indicator has gone crazy.

I have run it down to the red twice in 3k miles. This is on fresh ELF 0w-40 Synthetic, so I know the oil is good.

I do not rev above 3k when cold...

I have not been really revving the hell out of the car, either; I'm just blipping on downshifts.

What is the deal?

Um. It's just a mileage counter, nothing more. It takes literally nothing other than how many miles you drive into account.

Yeah, I knew the basics of this equation, but...I am not revving above 4500 any more than before...

Oh well. It may have been the fact that the alternator was on its way out.

No. I usually drive 15.000kms until all the greens go out, but sometimes with 8.500kms driven only one has gone out.

Its a counter based on milage, cold starts and probably some other parameters.

Yeah, I suck. I was never taught to properly drive a manual. I've probably done more clutch jobs than shifts in my time.

OBDII can do the reset with a short length of 10 gauge wire. Ignition on, plug the wire into
the correct sockets, count 15 seconds (one-Mississippi, ...), ignition off. Green lights!
