3" stainless from the y pipe back(front resonator deleted).
SLP LoudMouth resonator
Borla XR-1 Race muffler
Cost me $246.10 at a local shop with a mandrel bender, I supplied the mufflers and turn down.
Sounds like great. I'm happy. Here is the sound clip!

:stickoutt It has no load on the engine when I'm revving it. It sounds much better when the engine has a load. I'll get that video when a friend can film it from the outside

I have the EXACT same look, ill post a pic here as well when I get home. Muffler is a magnaflow. Like Jack said, it doesn't have a lot of bass when revving at a standstill, but around 2k rpms and at startup the thing roars, my friend has an 04 'vette and at idle the sound is surprisingly similar

EDIT (on slow blackberry so edit function is screwy). I have magnaflow, was not attempting to name the one on Jack's car, just a preemptive edition to my post :)

I just remember the guy who simply did the resonator and ypipe delete and it sounded much better IMO (at idle/no load). Get some drivebys up though, Im interested to hear.

Is it cheaper to buy the muffler and bring that with you to a shop or just buy it from the shop?
if it is a bit cheaper, any suggestions on where to get it online?

def cheaper. Juts like any shop, they are going to tax you for the part being passed through their shop. Of course in some instances the shop can get a better price on a part and even after taxing you, its still cheaper at the shop. But most of the time thats not the case.

Well, you're still retain a stock muffler which still supresses a lot of noise, I heard my car with no resonators....it was still raspy revving from idle, and it hardly sounds like anything. It's still quiet and souned restricted IMO.
I'll be getting the drive bys tomorrow

Man that sounds great...
How is it during normal driving? Any interior cabin drone, or popping on decel? I'm looking for something that'll sound a *little* more aggressive but that won't compromise the ride quality of my car, ie: overbearing muffler drone. If it's only really noticeable on WOT or hard acceleration, I might just have to copy you. :buttrock
I had a 5.8L Bronco with Flow 40's... it was LOUD and sorta sucked on long trips.
Thanks for posting though!:drink1

Dronning from 2-3K with heavy loads....and yes it pops like a mother when decelarating. it's just the exhuast scavaging. Some guy in a Porsche today look my car front to back and gave me a thumbs up =)

I don't remember the model number, but it was posted in these forums earlier in a muffler request thread, and it was the one I asked for at the shop. I got the whole deal done for under 320 bucks.
Question for you Jack; mine drones at around 2k, and diminishes greatly when I go over 2.7kish, aka when I am accelerating. Same with yours or does it still have the same sound when you give it some throttle?

It goes away after 2.7k or so...sounds about right.

looks good and sounds like my E36 with the muffler delete. I like the sound. The drone goes away at 2.5k RPM's because I used 2" pipes. I'm still experimenting though. Set up looks sick. I bet start ups are your favorite part of the day now.

And flying by Civics and Mustangs.
I just got home from a car hang out, I had people asking if I had an E60 M5 engine in it!
So I assume it sounds GREAT with a load and WOT. I need videos!!!!!

I bet. The sound can't be ignored by enthusiasts. The motor does sound like a V8, a small V8, but enough to spark interest.

I like the under the bumper look and have been thinking of doing the same for a bit more sporty sound. Our pipe (528/530) diameter is 2 1/2 inch, right?
Looking at my stock muffler an offset inlet looks correct so hows about this:

JackEatsEmoKids I've got a similar set up. Wiat until the system matures over the next few months and couple thousand miles. You'll definatly fall in love with it. The lean popping should work it self out, na dthe drone at 2000 rpm may get slightly mellower,

Jet-Hot coated SuperSprint headers into a 3" pipe with high flow cat and muffler.
Had that same lean pop for the first few weeks. Drove me up the wall until I found out what was causing it.
Putting the accelerator to the floor on highway entrance ramps is a lot more exhilarating now the exhaust is opened up.

Muffler and Resonator was $238 shipped from Summit Racing.
Muffler shop charged me $248.10 for the mandrel bent stianless pipe, a 1' stianless pipe and the welding.
So nothing bad for under $500. I did it Y pipe back because I don't know yet if I'm going supercharged or turbo or staying NA and building another car.
Jackcat--- what was causing the popping?

Looks great! I'm a little torn on the sound......don't get me wrong......i'm only thinking in terms of everyday driveability. I have been toying with the idea of removing the resonator on mine but i'm afraid i will get annoyed after a long trip.

It certainly has a free flow sound to it. I like it but I think it would be a touch to loud for my daily drivings. I would love to hear clips of it with just the muffler and stock Y resonator.
I bet you lightened the car up at least 30 40 pounds, the stock rear resonator and muffler can weighs a ton. I bet the Y piece isnt light either.

Jackcat--- what was causing the popping?
It was caused by a lean condition when the trottle was abruptly let off. It having something to do with the hi-flow system and scavaging effect. Some of this could have been silenced from adding another resonator, or manipulating the software tune to add more fuel. From my best guess the software adapted to the new condition. Fortunatly it hasn't happened since the first week or so. Boy the pop would really get your attention when it did happen.
