Hi,
I recently purchased new 18" mv2 alloys and tyres and the ride seems really rough, is it because of the lower profile or is it the actual tyres Yokohama 225/40R18 92W S306 XL tyres I am using?
Has anyone else had any experience using these tyres?

Lower profile = rougher ride. Tires are just air filled springs.

The brand/model of tire used makes little difference, but increasing wheel diameter makes a huge difference in the stiffness of the tire.

Its the wheel diameter and low profile, just as these guys are saying. You also may have gone to a heavier wheel, which will hurt ride quality.

You are complaining about ride quality in the UK? You have nice smooth roads over there. You should try driving on American roads with 18"s. You would want to die.

Be sure your inflation pressure is correct. But as stated, low profile tyres + lowered car = lower ride quality. I run 235/35/18 in a lowered and stiffened suspension and it is WAY different than stock. When I put my snows on its much more comfortable, 215/60/16
