So, in the 1st 3 weeks of ownership, I have:
removed the resonator
replaced RF tires w/ Bridgestone RE-01R's (which I can personally vouch for...quite grippy for street tires)
replaced faulty motor mount
added M7 strut bar
and spent a day on 3.27 miles of fun......(VIR Full Course)

At this rate, I'll be broke in 2 months.....

how much of a difference did the 'one ball' mod make? (resonator removal)

I don't know. If there was any change in HP, it couldn't be definitively identified behind the wheel, but looking at that contraption you could easily say getting rid of it had to help, and it is heavy. It's slightly louder, mostly under acceleration. Maybe the difference would be pronounced in conjunction with other engine mods.

10-4! I had 2 E30's before I went to an E36 M3. I never really liked the feel of the heavier, less sensitive (IMO) body as much as the E30. I really feel like the MINI has a lot of that nimbleness of the E30, in a tight little package. I really like this car a lot.

Get some camber plates for the front, adjustable arms for the rear, and a stiffer rear sway bar, then take it to a suspension shop to give you some more aggressive settings - I promise you'll love the car even more on the track. Go for around -2 up front and -1.5 in the rear. I have found the stock suspension, with those tweaks, to be more than up to the task and extremely fun.
