i have a 98 m3 and i get about 23 mpg in mixed driving. I don't really do the kramer thing and drive it till the limit, but you ususally have 2-3 gallons left when the light comes on so.... you do the math.

In my 325 average 18 or so. Once I get to the "E" I can go about 30 miles.

Why drive to the last drop...Mentally its cheaper to fill up if its not bone dry.

+ its not very cool the have a buddy come with a gas can on the side of the road to save your butt. Or worse, the tow truck!

19mpg x 16gallon tank = 304 miles

Why take chances?

I had a friend who used to drive till the tank was practically dry . . . he burned up his fuel pump.

well, if the empty sign comes on.. i at least should be able to get 40 miles.. since thr is still 2/3 gallons left.. but.. just to be safe.. i am only going to go up to 30 miles over.. thats it...

Thats my thought also, it is REALLY hard on a fuel pump, its probably going to take the same amount of time to change the pump, then to just fill up sooner.

my friend told me that the last quarter tank on the gauge always goes the fastest for bmws :dunno so i just fill up when it's at quarter tank, and if the light comes on, it's time to visit the pump :\

Why would you wait until the last second to fill up your car?

:rofl

I keep my car at roughly 1/4-1/2 a tank pretty much at all times.
