Diagnosis: trans program... :(

So, im driving tonight, and i had just gotten it back from the shop due to the diff making grinding noises, well it still makes the noise but it drives ok i guess.. so i driving and BAM! a loud thud trans program message. i coast to a stop.put it in park and turn it off. turn it on and try all the gears, none of them work. and i can move the car like its in neutral when its in park.
anyone know how bad it is?:(

I'm not an expert and don't know anything about autos. Were you able to drive the car home? Or did you have to get it towed. If you're getting it towed, I hate to say it but it sounds like your tranny may be gone

had to have it towed.i would not engage in any gear.although it did engage in reverse then made this horrible shredding/grinding noise :(

You're in for a fun ride. I would first check to make sure your diff isn't toast, as a broken diff will allow your car to roll also.

If you blew your diff up badly enough, it could theoretically kill your rear wheel speed sensor. That would put the car into Trans Program Hell. In theory. Either way, put the car on stands and turn the driveshaft by hand with the car in neutral. If the wheels spin, it's time to check your tranny. If the wheels don't spin while you're turning your driveshaft, you've got your smoking gun.

thanks im thinking it may of been the diff.because its been grinding and making a hell of alot of noise all week. and leaking...got it re-filled today but the guy said i probably needed a new one soon.hope guys that its just my diff. lower gears if so:buttrock
