E39 16 inch wheels on Sport Suspension?

Would 16 inch E39 wheels work on my E39 528iT that presently has 17 inch wheels and sport suspension? Would 225/55/16 tires with a load rating of 94H work without compromising safety? They would be 10mm narrower but only slightly larger diameter than the 235/45/17s that are on there now.

Looking to go with a larger sidewall for comfort. Do you think this would work?

the 94h is the speed rating. the load range would be a alphabetical letter. honestly you probaly wouldnt tell the difference. your gaining an inch of hieght on the tire but loosing an inch of hight on the rim. increasing the sidewall height also slightly increases the width of the tire. so everything should work out
