I know my suspension is bad, its real soft and I think one of the front shocks is blown. Anyways, when i brake and then let off the brake, the car kinda jerks. Its like it lurches backwards a little. Is this just due to the blown shocks or is there something else wrong??

Also, what does a bad strut tower feel/sound like? When I go over a pothole there's a click noise that comes from the driver side front strut area. I think that might be the shock thats blown but would it make that sound?

I had a noise that I could've sworn was a bad front left strut mount (which costs ~120 and requires a spring compressor, among other tools) that turned out to be a bad swaybarlink (which costs ~20 and requires nothing special).

As for the jerking...I don't know. When's the last time your brakes were replaced/checked?

i just got the car a few weeks ago so i dont know the condition of the brakes. I ordered the eibach and koni suspension kit as well as new thrust arms and sway bar links so i'm hoping its just suspension related...i know the front suspension is soft, i'm gonna go check the rear right now it would make sense that if the rear shocks are soft it would do this or is this just wishful thinking?

Have you checked the upper strut mount, upper and lower control arms?? Had a similar problem and that was it. Mine felt like the car was jerking when you applied the brakes hard or as soon as you released them if the car was in gear. But if you watched it from outside the car, the whole wheel was shifting backward in the wheel well by about 1.5". Replaced all of that and all was well. As well as getting rid of several other problems that were worrying me.

when u get that, a thunking noise when u release the brake plus the feeling like u're going back a bit, its the lower control arms, i got the same problem.

great...well hopefully they're not as much as those upper control arms that i just bought...guess its about time all these components got changed out anyways.

I think I read somewhere that when you brake all the load goes to the bushings so it could be those control arms.
