I replaced my struts all the way around and springs and made a critical error on the front. I looked how it came apart and put it back exactly the same way. What I didn't realize is there is supposed to be a large washer under the strut mount. I've been driving it that way for a few years now with worn struts. To make a long story short when I put new struts in without the washer. It blew out a strut mount on my test drive! I assumed it was right instead of double checking my Bentley manual. Don't make the same mistake I did! I've got a lot of real good tips here and wanted to pass this along. Untill it failed I really liked the Bilstein touring and Eibach spring combo.

Which part would that be?
Part number 3 or 9?

washer # 3 on the lower diagram. Apparently who ever had my car apart before I owned it left them out of the front struts and I did a mistake by assuming it was put together correctly lol.

I have just ordered that part a couple of weeks ago (#3 at the lower diagram).
It turns out that the local shop missed it on the install too.
