Hello. I am looking for pictures of aggressive offsets on e34.

I am thinking about getting BBS rs 17 x 9 with + 15 offset. I know its not that aggressive but if anyone has pics of this setup please post it.

Post any pictures with rim width and offsets. Just trying to see what is out there.

My car doesn't really have super crazy offset, but it is a 10 offset on my wheels, so they stick out a bit more. They're 17X8". Not sure if you can really tell if they're out a bit more in my sig

looking at it, nope you can't lol

I'll try to get some more pics up, but photobuck is down right now. I'm on stock springs but with Bilstein HDs. I'll hopefully be lowering it whenever i have chance

here are some pics, but i don't think it's that noticeable. especially since it's not lowered at all

This is kind of disheartening... I am going to have to get my exhaust re-done because with 275's on my 9.5 inch SSR comps I was rubbing the exhaust pipe.. but on a 10mm spacer and I was rubbing the fender...

Its not the exact color I want, but close.. Hugger Orange, gray lowers like an M5, 2 or 3 piece wheels, and a roll cage.. Ohh almost forgot.. an LSX under the reverse hood.

When I do my LS swap Im going to build one. If you like it when Im done I could probably build all the pieces and you could have someone weld it together..

Im going to build one for my e30 this spring or summer. Two of the guys I rent shop space with are building a pipe bender right now so we can build our own stuff.

I want one for sure. I am going to run aftermarket seats and want to be able to safely run harnesses... this car will still be driven on the street so a full cage isn't really in the cards right now but a have cage/harness bar would be right up my alley... i would prefer something that would bolt in... if it's not going to bolt in i might as well just go for a full cage.

Probably not.. That was a track car that sold on Ebay a couple years ago in Germany. I thought I had more pics of it, but I can't find them for the life of me.

Heres the only other Orange E34 I've seen. Im about 99.9% sure this is House Of Kolor Tanglao. Its my second favorite color of all time next to Hugger, but its a little flashier than I'd want on an e34, plus I think doing Hugger is a great clue to what will be under the hood.

ahh... definitely going to take a while then. damn. I'm getting to the point where i just want to get the aftermarket seats in, get a roll/harness bar, clean up the exterior a bit then it's time for some f/i. I think realistically we're looking at 24 months before I can make all of that happen financially with the cost of supercharging... sigh.

I hear ya...for me things will come pretty quick up until the cage/supercharging... cage because I have to find a builder that is somewhat reasonable and supercharging because it is ridiculously expensive... I might start looking into custom options there as well.

I have been lucky enough to get a company car so that is helping my project greatly. In addition to that my long-term girlfriend and I just broke up so the ring fund is being re-directed.

What exhaust are you running? It seems strange to have that sort of a problem. My BBS RX wheels sat so close to the struts that the tires rubbed and I had to add a spacer, but the Speedlines sit a little further out.
You know what the cheap solution is, right? BFH.

You would need some serious power to justify having tires like that under your car. I don't think I would go with anymore than a 305. Too much tire wastes power and money. Besides smoking the tires is cool.

How many people really want one? If I get 2-3 people interested, it might be worth it. The first shop I talked to about it said they would do it, but that was a couple years ago and they've since gone out of business. It wouldn't be that hard to find another. Its going to cost around $1k, because it cost me $800 back in 2000.

I'm running no cats, no resonators into a supersprint muffler. The guy who did it pretty much did a hack job. It needs to be re-done. I was impatient and didn't want to wait so I got it done at a shop for about $100. You get what you pay for.

If it's plug and play bolt-in I think $1k is doable. Obviously I would rather pay less but for a quality product that works for me.

255/40/17 Pirelli Pzeros on the staggered 17x9. I bought 12mm spacers and I think they still sit too far inboard. There is no concern of rubbing. The same goes with the style 5s that I have.

The Speedline UK website shows them. No price listed. From talking with the former owner of Rimpro, Speedline stopped making BMW fitments years ago when they were bought by Champion Audi/Porsche. Dealer cost I was told for them years ago was $3500, putting the retail price around $1k each.
Best bet is to just kept an eye out for them as I'm sure they'll occasionally appear. Or talk to a wheel dealer.
Or maybe you just need an adapter plate, as these wheels were standard on the F355 spider and optional on some Porsches.

yep... those speedlines are the hottest wheels i've seen on an e34. they might have just taken the throne from the bbs lm's.

I don't really have any photos of the rollbar. Its a bolt in. It mounts to the floor behind the front seats and to the shock tower. It takes me about 30 minutes to remove or install. Its basically a roll loop with a harness bar and two stabilizer bars. It really should have two diagonal cross members and the harness bar should be back farther as I can't put my seat back far enough. I've also though about adding some forward braces.

thanks, no fender work, they will rub on hard dips just barely touching on the side bulge of the tire.

Im gonna run 245-40-18 on my Style 5's in the rear in 18x9 fitment with a 20mm spacer and 235-40-18 in front, possibly 10mm spacer....just finished polishing them with some custom 16in style 5 caps, notice there is no bolt style center, more flush.

thanks, no fender work, they will rub on hard dips just barely touching on the side bulge of the tire.

I'm getting some 18" staggered style 5s soon. 18x8 up front with an et of 20, rear is 18x9 et 22. What would you guys recommend for tire size? Spacers? I want an aggressive stance with some meat on the tires.

Hmmm, not sure if I have a pic, might have to snap one.
17x10 Brock B1 et20 with a 15mm spacer and 255 rear tire. tire rubs, bad....rim pokes right outside the fender. Looks quite sick.

My sig doesn;t really depict it very well and there is no spacer on in that pic.

With the front fenders rolled, do you have any rubbing when the suspension compresses and the wheels are turned? I've got a 60mm drop up front and I've already nippled/pulled my fender while turning. Maybe I'm running too much tire (245/40/18) on a 18x8.5".

My tires actually don't wear too badly. My rear toe is in spec, so that helps things but I think my camber is 3.3-3.6 degrees. It looks even worse because of the width though. Those 11" schnitzers are unreal.

As far as the front fenders.. They are pretty molested, but I am swapping back to stock front fenders soon so we will see what happens. Should help my stance nicely but I'm betting on it hurting drivability. Right now it'll grab the fender on hard, slow turns with bumps but it's avoidable. I'm running 215/45, not really "stretched" but not the meatiest tire for an 8.5. My fender liners are long gone, so no rubbing on hard compression at all.

I was always amazed at what the Germans could get through the TUV, I would swear this was illegal, but I don't think it was.

I don't know the German laws right now, but at one point, the law was that you couldn't have wider than factory tires; didn't say anything about the wheels. That's how the stretched tire look originated pretty much.

Pretty smooth swap. Probably cost me 1,400 total or so.

The car pulls ALOT harder down low. It really pins you in the seat. Overall drivability went up as well. It's a great feeling downshifting and carving through corners.

I did install my shifter backwards though, so I still need to jack the car up and turn it around :embarrasm

I pretty much "palm" it into 5th lol.

I'm thinking of doing this..Did you go with the 6speed and do you have a writeup?

I went with a 5 speed out of a 530i. I had to get a custom driveshaft made to mate the large case diff to the medium case driveshaft.

Other than that, easy.

I have the stock 2.81 and I think the 5th gear feels great.

If you look into some of my older threads I have some tips/rants/pointers.

I can tell you that 245's just didn't ever work well in the front for me, I would run 235/40 and 265 or 275/40.

mine is not even that low compare to yours jonathan. my alpine doesnt even tuck on the front but no gap with 245/40/17's. my 540i on the other hand slightly tuck on same tire size.

Good luck having your wheels turned to the left or right, then hitting a bump. My fenders are tweaked running 245/40/18 on a 18x8.5, +13 offset (I believe) because the tire grabbed the fender and pulled it out while going up a driveway. It's happened on my other E34, as well as a friend who is as low as me (60/40mm drop). Then again my car is lower than yours.

Tonight I just squeezed my 17x10.5's on my car now running ET-8 in the rear with 245/40's. It's my best fitment yet in the rear and best of all, no rubbing! I'm pretty sure 255's would fit with no rubbing also but it would be CLOSE. I'll post pics at some point, wanted to bump this thread to share though.

BTW, if no one has ever mounted a tire with ether before.. Holy Shit! It is a sight to see for sure.

Nice! Now is that a minus 8 offset you're running? I'm thinking about running a 245/40/18 on a 10.5". I have them on my 18x10's right now, and they have a little stretch to them. I'm curious to see how much "massaging" I'll have to do to my rear fenders to fit the 10.5's in a +5 offset. Shouldn't be too bad. I still need to figure out my front offset though. I'm torn between a 9.0 or 9.5" wheel. Any suggestions?

robram12

what wheels are you running? 18x10.5 is an unusual size. custom lip maybe:confused Pics please. I'd personally go for 9 up front. 9.5 has been done but not pretty imo.

Yep, negative 8. I'll try to get a picture today but it's really tight and my fenders are heavily rolled in the rear.. I'm also running a good bit of camber, I think around 3.5 deg. +5 offset with a 245 would need a pretty strong fender roll but you shouldn't have any problems. What wheels are they?

No problems here yet. I did notice a bit of scrubbing when I had 5 people in the car. Not sure if it was front or rear.

I'm gonna try and get some 285/30's on the back if I keep them.

I just picked up some 18" staggered style 32's that need to be refinished.

I have a horrible wheel fetish, so I will go through a buch of wheels till I find what I'm looking for.

Jcb, any pics close of the front? Yeah I am talking front - the 14" rotor and caliper combo are awfully close to the wheel. I'd like a little more room to work with when making my adapter, but that may not be possible. The barrels of the wheels are angled, and reduce as you go from inside to out, so spacing the wheel 5 - 10mm would by me a good amount of room I think, which prob won't be necessary but here's what I mean

http://jonkensy.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/e34_bbkfit5.jpg

its kind of misleading as the caliper isn't squared up and is just being held in place by powder towels slightly compressed, but theres maybe 2mm of space between teh caliper and barrel. I don't mind running 10mm spaced since I can run hubcentric but 5mm spaced would stink. 10mm would mean a 17x8.5 ET3 w/ 235/40/17

similar issue here....

I used to buy some 235/645R18 pirelli slick tyres to use in the Track. Used ones, for about 150~200 USD the set with 4..... the thing is, they are not used in any automotive category here in Brazil any more..... the only ones I found here for the 18 M Parallels are some 265/645R18.....

I tryed fiting them a year and a half ago on the car. In the rear, ok, no problem at all. But in the front they touch the struts with the car on the ground, parked already..... so, 265 slicks that have a thicker border, are considered like something about 270~275 width.... and this messure fit the back as we all know, and as I tested already..... but to fit the front, I would need some spacers.....

with a 10mm spacer, for the inside it would look like it was a 255mm width tyre..... but would them it fit? The rear wheels are 9,5' and the front are 8', original M Parallels.

summarizing, I would like to know if a 265 tyre would fit in the front with spacers, or if it would rub the inside or the feder lip?

5mall5nail5

dish is irrelevant, its supposed to mean low offet = high poke outward. seems like a lot of guys dont get that. But, it is what it is. You could have no lip but if the wheel face comes out and is just kissing the fender plane then that could be considered aggressive.

Are they 18's? If so, PM e34N, he just sold his set along with 2 extra 18's to someone. Maybe the guy doesn't need both and you could buy a spare off of him.

I was gonna post a new thread but figured you guys would be able to answer me in this one. Planning on getting some new rims soon. 18x8.5 et13 all around. What size tires would you guys recommend for this kind of setup? 540i/6 on all stock suspension. Just worried about rubbing issues if any and was wondering how wide i can go with this setup. I read that 235/40/18 should fit fine no issues?

im looking on running 18x9.5 in the front. What would you wheel pros suggest offset wise? Can I do it without rolling fenders? I also don't mind a little stretch. I'm lowered on bc coils and the wheels I'm looking at are the varrstoen es1 in 18x9.5f 18x10.5r lowest et they have them in is a 12. Ty for your time \m/

When you get to that size, the clearance is minimal and it depends a lot on the individual setup (clearance to suspension). The only real way to tell is a test fit. The calculator below indicates it should work. You might need a spacer or you might not. I will tell you that a 265 width tire will fit upfront and it's fairly easy to run a 9" wide wheel with no issues. I have ET14 wheels up front and they don't clear my Ground Control coilovers without a 5mm spacer. The fender side is fine as I'm only running 245s upfront right now with those wheels.

I have 11" wide wheels on mine with 275s. The current offset is ET20. My tires rub slightly on a heavily rolled fender. I can't imagine it sticking out another 2mm.

Test your setups here.

Thanks redfive. I might just stick with a smaller width wheel. I don't want to order wheels to find out they won't work with out going stretched tires and lots of fender work. I'm more worried about the front than the rear.

It may be too close to tell, depending on your ride height, camber adjustment (or lack of) and how much your fenders have been rolled. I have 275/40 on 18x11 ET9 with -3.1 camber (using AKG camber bolts), shaved trailing arms, cut (used a dremel to take the lip off), rolled, and pulled rear fenders. With a full tank of gas or people in the back on big bumps, I still rub a little. Mine poke out 8mm more than yours. I think I wouldn't rub if I had 8mm more clearance, but I don't know about yours. If you went 265/40 and can play with your ride height, you'll be perfectly fine. I'd play it on the safe side and start with 265/40, then, after you know it fits and have room to spare, go to 275/40 on your next set of tires.

All suspension is stock, non m sport. I checked clearances on the back, I should be fine there is plenty of space... the front will poke out 47mm more than the stock 15" weaves I have ATM. Also the top of the rubber on the rear tires is level, If not maybe 5-10 mm lower than the fender...

That's something you need to get used to with an old car like the e34 that isn't commonly 'stanced' as much as other cars. But, it provides opportunity to do something different if you dare to push the boundaries, like me and others have done (I couldn't find much on 275/40 on 18x11 fitting). So, like us, you can see what's been done, compare measurements/clearances of your current/desired setups to what has been done, and make an educated guess. That's why I recommended being on the safe side, then going up in tire as you progress.

More tire and camber, then see if there's room to push them out (or get wider wheels, the main reason for wider flares).

Is this the car that was on Miller's Facebook back around February? Definitely need a build thread. Need to know more about the build and those flares. Seems like universal FRP/CFRP ones molded to the body?

They are actually completely custom by a shop here in Austin called Protech Body shop. Hand formed metal. They did an amazing job.

Those are actually the wheels off my RX8 with huge spacers. I need to buy wheels for the Bimmer now. Its going to have to be a huge offset and I have 285 rear and 255 fronts hoosier H1's.

It is the car that was on the Miller page. Those guys are great but its time to turn up the power beyond the capabilities of the stock computer. Its now running an AEM Infinity box and MIL spec harness. I will start a build thread soon. The shop is really busy right now so its hard to find the time but I promise I'll get one going once it slows down for the holidays. It will be on the dyno in the next few weeks.

They look very much like ACS silhouette flares but reworked so you don't have to get the rest of the pieces.

With luck mine will be mounted in the spring and then I can start making copies for anyone interested. (I'll need the money)

And a turbo E34 like that needs a really awesome set of deep dish 3 piece wheels to make it pop. IMHO

I know where you can get some.
