Well It happened to me randomly last night...the right side lights are out as well as #5 fuse, and because of this my instrument cluster :mad. I replaced that and still same problem, which means a broken wire/ground issue somewhere. Where do I start to diagnose? This is for a Touring if that makes a difference

You could try putting in a circuit breaker in place of the fuse for diagnosing the problem ONLY. Get one at your parts store. You can then disconnect each light on the circuit until you find one that's tripping it, or start unplugging things until you find the one that's killing your fuse.

I will have to do that tomorrow, that would save me having to use a million fuses.

I took a look at all the wires that I could see, and nothing looked bad at all, with any of the harnesses...so I will try that circuit breaker tomorrow and see what I can find out.

Did you remove the plastic mesh and inspect the points where the loom kinks? Also, two grounds on the left side rear hatch harness are critical for rear gate functions -- it's split into two separate wires because one thicker wire (which it splices into back in the body area) would be more susceptible to damage. If you're blowing fuses, though, it's not really a ground issue.

The rear gate and glass work perfect.

This happened when I had the car idling and turned the lights off to wait for someone and when I went to turn them back on the fuse blew, and now it continues to happen.

You may want to check the connector for the sunroof switch. The back cover to my switch fell off and the wires twisted, it pulled two tabs out a little bit and they connected, zapping the fuse for the right side marker lights.

That is probably it...I was messing around with that before that happened too...SWEET I will check that thanks!

I changed the side marker bulbs, and made sure the sunroof switch was all in order, and then it worked.

Thanks for your help Binjammin, I owe you one.

No worries. Post back if it happens again, we'll go into more detail then. GL with the car man!
