I was looking through the new Road and Track and saw an ad for some new spark plugs and was wondering if anyone has tried them yet? If you haven't heard of what I'm talking about here's (http://www.pulstarplug.com/) the link to the manufacturers website. They're claiming some pretty impressive increases on performance and economy, I was just curious if they're claims were actually true.

PO put them in the car a month or so before I bought, but I've only had my since mid-December; no comparison. Would like to hear others' comments...

It seems to me like it's the same persistence of vision scam as the splitfire plugs from way back. They claimed you would have a split spark via having two electrodes, and in the ads on tv you would see two sparks, but in reality you can only have one. It would look like two because the spark is switching too fast back and forth between them to be able to distinguish.

What I'm guessing is that even though it may be making multiple sparks, the engine is turning too fast for it to be even remotely effective. Plus, I don't think the circuit would be making the spark discharge like a square wave, so you'll have pulses that have much lower spark energy that would have the same peak, but lower overall output than stock plugs.

Just a hunch.

Yeah I think they work worseA dyno would tell the truth, and if there were magic spark plugs that actually made power there would be articles in evey car magazine on the planet and CNN would have a morning thing featuring it, under the guise of a way to add efficiency to your engine.

Guess it's time for a change... Of course, I'll just add it to the list of other stuff to do! :D
