Hey all,

I have a 540i/6 with 17" rims currently mounted with all season Michelin PS2s, which just don't cut it in the poorly-plowed Chicago snow.

I am looking into buying a set of dedicated winter rims/tires and was wondering if I could get by with 16" rims as opposed to 17" because of the added cost of the 17s.

Will this fit? If so, what do people recommend? I was thinking of going with blizzaks and the cheapest 16" rims I could find?

Tirerack has an option for 16" winter wheels/tires for you car so it should be okay.

I know, i just wasn't sure if there was any difference in brake sizes for the sport vs. non-sport E39 540i's ---- because the sports were the ones that came with 17s stock vs. the 16s of the non-sports
