Some appear on ebay for cheap every now and then.
Anybody heard any firsthand reviews or personal experience?
Thanks

BAAAD idea, they would fail on u soon, if ure thinking of getting them, get them from a place that covers them (warranty)

Not that Monroe is BAD. It is pretty standard shocks that does not really provide better handling.
It will sure be better than blown 100K miles shocks. It is a Sensa-Trac line of product so the shocks are OK. I had experience with Sensa-
trac on a different car. It rides pretty smooth.

A freind of my son bought Sens a Tracs cheap cheep on eBay - they feel very solid and were made in Belgium and looked to be high quality - I have also heard on the boards someone say they wore out quickly on his car.

I had those shocks on my 93 Nissan Altima............it blew within a year. And that is a much lighter car than the e34. after that I put on KYB with H&R springs and those were still going strong until I parted out the car 6 years later.

I am interested in a cheaper setup.
KYB's are rough though.
I'll try to search up some review on monroe.
I can get H&R's with bilsteins on ebay for 460 shipped..

Can you afford to do it right a second time?
I can't, which is why I'll be doing Vogt/Koni when the time comes.

Not for another 100k :)
Hate to put it like this, but I'm almost 18 and still in school and money is super tight. My suspension is absolutely gone at 203k..
Lol, search for nightmares of KYB.
Never go cheap, that's for Hondas. Do research and get a job. But if you've got your heart stuck on them, just ignore all of us snickering.

So can you afford to replace the Monroes in 10k?

Trust me man, it's not worth the temporary lesser price because in the end you'll be paying more anyway. That, and it's not worth the hassle of having to rip through your suspension two or three times to get the same repetitive not-so-great result. Do it right the first time and save yourself the time, hassle, money, and sore butt.

I plan on doing a complete shock replacement on my car but I agree with most on this post that "cheap"or "entry level" shocks are not the way to go. I want to make sure that my new shocks will performed well for another 100k. My car is already at 175k and I really baby it and never race it or rev it too hard so my goal is for it to run well up to 300k. I do not want to change my shocks between now and then.
Anyways, my car is lowered on Vogland springs and I do not want to but the most expensive and highest quality shocks, which seem to be Koni. There are a few other more expensive and race oriented shocks out there but a nice middle ground shock seems to be the Bilstein series.
I'm going to buy Bilstein sports, which are running about $125 each.
But if you plan on buying monroe or kyb, i would not suggest it unless you drive slow everyday, never take hard turns, never accelerate hard and pretty much drive like your grandpa.

how much is cheap? i think you can get the sach sporting kit for around $700. i have them and pretty happy with it. just not sure if your v8 will be too heavy for them or not.

That's what mine rocked. The v8 wasn't too heavy for them.

Fine, fine, I'll take your word.

I'd say consider the Bilstein and H&R combo. If you buy them from turner motorsports in a package you get a pretty good deal. $639 for the struts and springs...
