I have some moneys sitting in my pocket i want to spend, but im torn on where to spend it!
my car has ~60k on it and is all maintained up to snuff
do i...
--Get the Bimmerzone cooling kit and and replace all that?
--Upgrade to the 140a alternator and all associated wiring? (has beefy sound system)
--Some sort of go fast part, most likely m50 manifold?
Oh the decisions!
if you want to throw any other ideas at me feel free
TIA

i had a 200a boche alternator when i had my big sound system in my old car. i wouldnt replace it though, i would keep the one you have until it dies. nothing will happen, your car just wont start. haha. then you know its time for a new one. easy to replace anyways.
go with the M50 manifold :]]]]

I don't know. Maybe you could SAVE the money. Something will break or need fixing. Etrade is giving 5%, so it could grow a little. If you have retirement taken care of, then.....
I like the M50 Manifold and Cold Air Intake.
The 140 amp alternator adds over 5 lbs and steals 2HP (per another posting).

Wow, yet another "tell me how to spend my money" thread. Sad, just sad.

If you really cannot decide for yourself, put all that spare cash in an envelope and send it to me here in Australia, I will have no problem making up my mind what to spend it on.
PM me for my forwarding address.

where do you get this upgraded alternator?
e30'd much?

Autozone has it for a good price after the core charge (especially when one of the guys in your car club is manager...), its a rebranded BOSCH unit, you'll need to order the pulley seperately
and what the guy said up above about power loss, its un-noticeable and the weight gain is negligible, especially since my current one runs at peak output whenever i turn the volume up a tad :shifty

good choice on the 2002. i sure hope you werent serious about buying an alternator and calling it an "upgrade"
someday id like to get a 2002. is it a fuel injected one? id like some pics. if i were to buy another BMW to add i duno what id get. id like to get an E24 (my fave BMW) before the prices go up or a 2002 cuz well, i think every bmw enthusiast should have one.

LoL, I think I might be making that "upgrade" soon myself. I don't think the current alternator is doing enough for my car. Thank god I have HIDs, becuase the way my dash lights like to dim under heavy songs, my headlights would look ghetto as hell. :(

eh id probly do the alternator too but when the time comes. BTW what HIDs are you using? When i get my income tax check ill probly be adding that to the list of things i want to spend my money on. most of it will be going towards a cooling system overhaul. even tho my radiator isnt leaking but the car is approaching 82k and breaking down will totally suck ass. or even worse a warped head.

i have the 6000k zkw HIDs /w predator chromium angel eyes, and 6000k zkw hids in the fog lights. I went through Umnitza. I love my set up. Other people will advocate against the 6000k, and say 5000k, or 4300k, and others will be opposed to the HIDs in the fogs, saying it isn't functional. I didn't buy it for functionality, I bought it because it looks damn good, (also it looks damn bad when low beams and foglights can't even match).
