re-badging my 540i

this may sound crazy but... i de-badged my 540 last summer and have decided that i prefer our cars with the model designation... it's a traditional BMW thing - like it just needs to be there :confused.

anyway, i was able to remove all trace evidence of the 540i adhesive. does anyone have a source for a template or guide for emblem placement (measurements from the lower edge of trunk lid, etc?). or some close up photos of the 540i emblem on the trunk lid?

I agree with the badges being left on. I like the fact that mine is a 540i, I see 525,528, and 530's all day long. Great cars, mind you (I have owned).

I don't have the measurements for the 5 series...but it's probably very close to the same for the e38 emblems that have only 4 characters instead of 5:

i wonder where those diagrams originally came from? i would guess that the 'A' measurement of 23mm is right for our E39's...

would someone measure and confirm the A, B, and C measurements for an E39 540i?

I'm actually rebadging mine to 544i. I've always liked the simplicity of XYY (X=body, YY=displacement). I have a buddy who has this done, and it looks nice.

525 tds = turbo diesel saloon . . . didn't make it to the shores of the USA...sold only in Europe

The 525 tds has 143hp @ 4600 rpm versus the plain 525td which only has 115hp @ 4800 rpm
