how many of u guys have gotten pulled over by a cop cuz of illegal tint in the front??

cuz i did tonight and i am not happy!!! :mad
sure i knew what i was getting into at the beginning and expected this but i expected my ticket to come with a speeding ticket or something else i did to get pulled over. but this motorcycle cop pulls me over JUST for the tint!!!

what makes this worse is i was driving through the worse part of town, where there are people doing drugs and all that other crap and he pulls me over for front tinted windows?!?! argghh....

anyway, i just needed to vent....not even sure what the big deal is with front tint...makes the car looks so much better....

Sounds, to me, like he was doing his job. It would be a fair assessment that he probably couldn't see in the car because of the tint. It's also fair (because you said it) to assume that you were in a crappy part of town, where "there are people doing drugs and all that other crap." Put those together and any reasonable person could conclude that you might be hiding something. :shifty Given the tint violation, he probably stopped you to a) check to see what you were up to, b) address the tint violation, and c) if you were anywhere as angry with him as you seem in your original post, to write you the ticket.

I'm not trying to burst your bubble, but you acknowledged the fact that you knew you had illegal tint. You rolled the dice and lost. I too, have tint that doesn't meet code. If I get a ticket, I plan on paying it. However, I'm not going to be mad at the cop.... along that same line, I might just get off with a warning if I don't project anger toward him. Just my $.02

i didn't project anger towards the cop...i remained polite and courteous....
the bad part of Vancouver is just full of junkies...it's an area where u have to drive through to get downtown if u take that road....and a person driving a bimmer definitely won't raise suspicion in that area...it's kinda hard to explain...i'm sure u can dig up some stories on that area since the gov't is trying to clean it up before the 2010 Winter Olympics....

my feeling is that the cop was just filling a quota before the end of his shift....i do plan on paying the ticket, like u said, i rolled the dice and lost....but still in disbelief that he pulled me over just for the windows...

You really can't fault the guy for doing his job (my windows are barely illegal, FTR, 35 on all the sides and 20 on the back), and especially if you were in the bad side of town. I went on ride-alongs with patrol units about 15 yrs ago for some criminal justice classes (I don't know if many departments do them anymore--liability, etc.) and I never got more nervous than when we pulled someone over at night and couldn't see who (or how many) you were about to deal with. And I was the one who got to stay in the police car! Around here, the cops are generally cool about tint (a few patrol cars are even tinted), but as soon as you read about an officer getting shot during a traffic stop somewhere in the state, it's on! They go after everyone they see, and who can blame them? Not me... getting shot would suck bad, but maybe that's just me. Concerning his "quota"... if he has such, why would he try to reach it by risking his life pulling a guy with tint rather than sitting near a stop sign and waiting for someone to "roll" through it or finding someone who doesn't signal a lane change and just writing them up? Sounds like you have a problem with authoritah... better hope you never roll through Officer Cartman's precinct! "RESPECT! MAH! AUTHORITAH!!!"

Hey Just Wonderer, in that part of town where, you don't have to drive to get to downtown, is frequented by pimps, pushers and johns, driving around in flashy cars tinted so that they don't get easily seen or recognised, puts you on their band wagon. You were in the wrong place at the wrong time with a car that you knew doesn't conform to the law. What did you expect? Your car may apperciated only on "Bimmerforum" if you post some pix, not on Hastings or Powell street.Have a nice day and JUST WONDER on Robsen or Granville. Neighouberly advice, you don't have to take it,
