Taking apart two piece wheels with tires still mounted?

Is this ok to do? I'd like the polish my barrels by hand without having to dismount and remount tires.

It doesn't cost much to have the tire dismounted plus it will be easier and lighter without the tire turning the barrel around while you're polishing it. It's also a good idea to re-balance it after you have dissembled/assembled the wheel. I'm pretty sure the balancing have changed a little.

I was going to mark the inside of the wheel so I could bolt it back up the same as it was before so the balancing wouldn't change. Mount/balance is $80 and I don't have the money to spend since I just had new tires put on last week.

Yes, it can be done........completely deflate the tire and you can take off the center section. I've actually done it on 3-piece wheels and it didn't ruin the seal/seam in the inner/outer section.
