View Full Version : I'm looking for a tiny piece of trim for my Mini...

At some point over the last few weeks, the little trim piece that sits atop my A-pillar broke off. I think its from when I had my windshield replaced last year, and they broke and replace the A-pillar trim, they probably weakened the fastener that held this piece on.
I emailed a Mini dealership, minimania.com, and pelicanparts.com, with a photo, and pelicanparts first thought I was mistaken and it was the C-pillar trim, and then told me I had to go to a dealer, which is no problem. But then both the dealer and minimania tell me that I can't buy that piece seperately, that I have to buy the entire passenger side roof trim, which is about $80.

My other option is to find a Mini at a junkyard, but thats going to be near impossible, especially around here.
Does anyone else know where I could find one of these, or does anyone know of a place that might have a wrecked Mini or someone that is parting one out?
Here is the piece in question:

You dont have to find the mini yourself at the junkyard.

They all subscribe to these part sharing services.

You might also find better luck at one that specializes in imports
(not sure)

Try that first.

Do you know of one of these parts sharing services?

I don't personally.

The last time I needed parts
for my CRX like that I was able
to get them on ebay.

But most larger junk yards have the capability.
Take your picture.

They can find you one. It's usually 1/2 the
dealer price.

This is a mini specific site.

They might be helpful to you.

I didn't explain that well.

Junkyards won't have all parts for all cars.
But, there will be a stream of people leaving
with parts all day long. They have this system
(not sure how it works) where they share
information with each other. Send parts back
and forth to each other, etc etc.
I'm not sure how they split the money.

But car part recycling is really big business.

Also, there is a guy on the site that I just sent you
his wrecked 2007 I think he is parting it out.
Under 2007 coupe.

There's a few minis on there. Contact one of the junk yards and e-mail them the pic, and you should be able to get it.
