Hi all,
My 99 M3 convertible overheated due to a broken thermostat. Surely this is common enough. About how much do you expect to pay to replace the thermostat at your independent BMW shop? What about the water pump in addition? I'm wondering if I'm getting taken for a ride on this one.
Thanks!

Stat replacement is fairly easy - although quite messy - if you are comfortable at all with any work at all - there are some good DIY all over the forums and internet on how to do this. Parts are cheap - here is what u need.

And some coolant - Recommend BMW Brand - you must mix it yourself
***If you don't feel comfortable doing it yourself - a shop will probably charge 2-3 hours for t-stat @60-70/hr.
Waterpump would probably be about 2-3 hrs as well
