I highly doubt it, I went from an E36 to an E46 M3 and people give you WAY more looks in an E46 m3...But I did the opposite of him, I went from a black E36 M3 to a Avus Blue E46 M3 :D

Who cares if he has 17's on an e46, cheaper tires, doesn't look like he's "BALL!IN!!1!!1" and classier if you ask me.

P.S. I like the e36 ALOT, but I agree, if you were to keep it you should either get a regular grille ring or keep the black one and smoke the corners.
