I got a CEL for my Camshaft Position Sensor the other day. So I reset it and figured if it didn't come back on, I'd just leave it to see if it came back later. The light stayed off so I'm thinking I've got time until it comes back on again.

So I drive the car around for a couple of days and can't help but think it feels way more sluggish. I came to find out that when your CPS is failing, the DME will sometimes set VANOS to a default timing setting, basically making VANOS non-existent. It made me realize how much VANOS does for these motors, it's a big difference. If you think low-end torque sucks with an M50 intake on your M52, wait until your VANOS shuts off!

So my new CPS is in the mail and until I get that sucker on I'll feel like I'm driving a non-VTEC Honda- I hope no one wants to race :(

Please keep us posted!
I had the error code on mine (cyl 1-3) and I replaced the sensor but the car still feels the same and the error code remains.

Good luck!

Same problem here. I will order it probably after the tax refund arrives, or before depending on which hits first.
But......
Is it possible that the CamShaft Position sensor is fine and doing what its suppose to do, and is actually warning us that the CAM Guide rails or chain tensioner is actually whats wearing down and needs attention.

I ask because if the sensor indicates there is a problem, then popping the mainfold/valve cover off and checking the tension and other related stuff may be more prudent. It's just something thats been in the back of my mind.

Anybody see where I'm going with this, and if it makes sense???

When I brought my car(Feb 07) it had a stored code of failed Cam Position sensor(I bought a basic reader/reset tool)....as I was new to the car I didn't know if it had been replaced. Now I'm wondering if its good or not. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
