What do you mean there is no air over the engine? It has a properly working cooling system.

exactly... the fan was prolly running the entire time... and it didnt look like summer or anything.

If any of you do that and get your tires hot enough to disintegrate, say goodbye to your rear bodywork. Just a thought.

Maybe he was practicing his drifting? The M50 is a great engine. It's that German engineering at it's best.

In transportation class back in the day we ran a 2.2L Chrysler I-4 for 15 minutes at 6000 RPM and it didn't blow.

Drained the oil, and it lasted a further 5 minutes. 5 minutes without oil...

Usually the bottom ends of engines are very strong.

Bottoms ends vary. Your Chrysler 2.2L is known to have a very strong bottom end from the factory and correct me if I'm wrong but I believe they came with a forged crank and all sorts of decent stuff from factory.

Been their done that, not true or very very rare as I'v seen and done that many times and never took dmg to anything other then skuff up the rim edges.

Think it's just a BMW thing, they make great engines, that or my old M20 and my current M44 are just as good as that M50.

Done similar many times and never been able to dmg any BMW engine I'v ever owned.

Although the M44 starts to slowly boil out coolant if I keep that up for over 20-30 min streight.

That'd be a better video if the guy could hold the freaking camera steady for more than two seconds....:mad

Nothing like seeing the engine internals in action!

I've seen bodywork get badly messed up from blown tires.
