Gas Cap and Check Engine Lights

I have a 2002 MINI Cooper S with 35k miles. Recently the Gas Cap and Check Engine lights keep coming on. Has anyone experienced any issues with their gas caps? Do I just need to replace the cap or is this something bigger?

Na - you just have to be super careful when you fill up with gas to get the cap on correct. The tank works on a vacum system and has to be fully closed or the light will come on. If it happens all the time, I would take it to the dealer for a quick check-up.

Ok. thanks. It's happening pretty frequently so I guess it's time for a trip to the dealer.
