Well I was coming back from hanging out with some friends and talking cars and all. Soo I was driving home from this guys house when I passed a parked cop on a bridge doing 60 in a 45 well didn't think much of it when I passed him, except when he turned his head lights on after I passed. I got on the other side of the bridge where he could not see me (not smart) when I down shifted into 4th and hit it for a sec. Not a good idea, then passed a Charger cop car that was coming the opposite way (that I didn't see) sure did see the blue lights 2 secs later tho... Pulled over asap because I didn't know the area good enough umm... haha. Cop got right out of his car and was like son, any reason we were going 95 in a 45...thought to my self O shi.. I am going to jail. Point of the story is well I got lucky (I think) bc the cop gave me a ticket for SPEEDING, 95 in a 45. Neither a careless driving ticket nor a reckless driving ticket... Could have been a lot worse I thought. $440 and 6 point right now, until I go to court, where it might be cut in half (officer said). Anybody got anything this high and what happened to you? What should I look forward too? ha (sorry for the spelling errors)

The judge can/will decide if he feels that you should be cited for wreckless driving. Sounds like you deserve it.

About 5 years ago I left my co-workers place at 3am and with no traffic on the freeway I did what any 18 year old dumb shit would do, I nailed it. Entire 35 mile drive home on the freeway I was doing between 90 and 130, slowing down when I was passing cars and speeding up on long stretches. 15 to 20 minutes later I was almost home and thought it would be a good idea to slow down to the speed limit 2 or 3 exits in advance. As I'm slowing down I notice johny law in hot pursuit. After mentally kicking my self I pull over, get out the vaseline and wait for the cop to come to my window. Told me he had the speedo buried and I was leaving him behind. Apparently he had been after me for about 5 minutes. Ticket was 90+ in a 55, $395.

This was in my 94 mazda 626.

105 in a 55, not in the m3 though. Now I barely get to 80, it was my first and hopefully last speeding ticket. Not a good thing but a good lesson.

My brother got 110 in a 45. This was in his M3 too.Luckily we know a few cops in the area so he ended up getting a ticket and points in stead of arrested. He had a Mandatory court appearance. My brother managed to get away with doing community service and making a video on 3 death sites in our town.Ended up getting no points and a $100 fine.

Normally cops are supposed to arrest you on the spot because it reckless driving. The judge even threated my brother while in court saying that he was gonna get arrested right in the court room, but he finally rethought it ended up giving him the community service and video.

Hopefully every thing comes out ok and you dont go to jail.

+1 for being an idiot and running from the cops

not an idiot for speeding or even punching it

EVERYONE here (almost, with some SLIGHT exceptions) has punched it and given it the good heave ho' every once in a while... hell even my 40+ mom who ALWAYS drives the speed limit, gets on it every once in a while

u are an idiot... (for running from the cops, you got what you deserved on that one), but you cant say anything about just plain speeding, almost everyone here has done it

well didnt think much of it when I passed him, except when he turned his lights on after I passed.

I knew hilarity would ensue at this point...

BTW, I believe the greatest speeding ticket in history was a Gumball Rally team that got nailed going 242 mph in Texas. I don't know what the speed limit was, but that really doesn't matter, does it?

I wasn't running from the cop, I just saw him turn his head lights on so I'm not sure if he was coming for me or not... And for the spelling, guess thats what beer does to you at 2 in the morning and then trying to type something... And don't worry the V1 is back in the car now, not sure why I ever let my friend borrow it. Btw I am not an idiot.

+1 to being an idiot......
get a radar detector.
i've gotten several tickets but not a single one on my record.
get a lawyer ( will cost <100 ) or even without a lawyer do a differed adjudication, which means if you do not get another ticket for the next 6 months this tickets automatically gets deleted from your record. Differed adjudication costs different in different courts, can be more than 200 but well worth it.

Man you were lucky. I don't have that kind of luck. I was passing a car in a Protege5, work demo, 75/50 on a Military Reservation. Didn't see the unmarked that was hiding out. MP handcuffed me and took me to the base to write me the ticket. They towed my demo and charged me 145 bucks to get it back....i even beat it to the tow yard. At least the points don't show up on my insurance or license cause it was federal property. It was a bad day though and a tough one to explain to my boss.

242mph? In what car? That BETTER have been a typo...

And not to jump on the band wagon, but yes, you're an idiot. As soon as the first cop you passed turned his lights on you should have SLOWED down, not down shifted. And IF that was a thought out plan, it really wasn't THAT well thought out since at 60mph you should have grabbed 3rd if you were trying to get away. So not only were you an idiot that thought the cop wasn't coming for you but decided to punch it just in case, you were an idiot and didn't get the most acceleration out of the car as possible at this point when he couldn't see you. And then to top it all off you were an idiot for speeding while letting a friend use your V1. All sorts of win on this one... :rolleyes

Got a ticket while trying to catch up to my friend one time, very bad idea. Apparently there was a cop on the freeway when I was pulling on to it and accelerated very fast. I looked in the mirrors and didn't see him until a couple of miles down the road where I saw his lights very far in the distance. Natural reaction was to slow down and get in the right lane. The cop said he was going 100(Tahoe) and I was pulling away from him, Got a 400 racing on highway ticket and 6 points, got it reduced to 4 point imprudent speed. I felt like a real dumb ass after that one, bring on the lashing.

wikipedia ---->Top Gear reported that the Koenigsegg CCR holds the fastest speeding ticket in the United States, which allegedly occurred in May 2003 in Texas. It was supposedly 242 mph (389 km/h) in a 75-mph zone.

+1 on that... Bottom line, idiot.

Yes, we've 'all' done the speeding thing...

Speeding is one thing, not getting caught (by whatever means) is another... but there are TOO MANY details in the story that prove you deserve this one.

Talk to a Lawyer, maybe they'll be able to keep the judge from bending you over.

Lastly: grow up, learn from it, and DRIVE SMARTER!
