Steering Wheel emblem variance?

I have a '97 e36 m3 with Vader seats and the standard M3 package, but I saw a '99 m3 with a different steering wheel than mine. It has the blue and white bmw emblem in the middle, whereas mine is all black, and an m3 emblem lower on the center part of the steering wheel. Was this an aftermarket change from an e46, or did some come with this option?

98.5 and up cars got a 3 spoke steering wheel; much nicer than the original 4 spoke in the cars.

They go for about 450 bucks used around here...

^^nice!^^ so is it really $450, or can you find them cheaper? I definitely like the look of your steering wheel over mine, but not enough to drop $450 on it.

I got stupid lucky, I got my 3-spoke, an armrest with all the hardware and the shifter for 120.

I got the wheel and slipring for 50.
