Hi. I read somewhere that in the 1999 323is and 328is, BMW made some kind of enhancement to the rear suspension. Is that rear shock tower plates or rear subframe mounting points or something else?

the only reinfocements i'm aware of on the e36s are the ones on the m3's for the subframe bushings. there are also reinforcements for the e36/7 in the rear shock mounts.

For 1999, 2-door cars were E36, 4-door were E46.

yep, I'm talkin about the 1999 two door, E36 model. did they come stock with the subframe reinforcement plates that otherwise need to be welded to the underbody?

+1, I did mine, it's a pain but worth it if you plan on keeping the car attached to it's rear half.

Thx. That all makes sense but it doesnt ans the question. There's a site that outlines all the diffs tween E36 model years. It says that in 1999, the 323is and 328is got some kind of reinforcement done to the rear suspension. It doesnt specify subframe or shock tower. does anyone know what the change was?

I didn't think any non-M's ever had the rear subframe mounts reinforced. There is no reason to believe that web page is 100% accurate.

I'm sure you are talking about the reinforcement rings on Z3's. E36's never came with these, although MANY, including me, have installed these:
(pic of them on my vert).

Frankie lies. Only M's got the reinforcements on the rear subframe mounting points.
