If you had your choice of a 2004 x5 or a 2002 745i which would you get?

What are the pros and cons of both? I am looking for honest opinons. Both vehicles will work for me, and I don't mond either one. I am looking for known problems, life of the vehicle, etc. Looking to purchase this in about two months.

I have owned neither. But I did the E70 X5 launch tour for BMW. I have worked on customer 7-series.

The 7's are expensive to maintain. Period. They are a great car, but everything is expensive. I had a friend recently offered an E38 740, that needed 'some work'. After a while then owner even said he would give it away. I still suggested it was overpriced...

The E53 X5 is mostly 5-series. Not a lot of storage room, but it would be my choice between the two.
