So i got my wheel straightned only to find out that they messed up the seal on the rim and now it won't hold air (looses about 10lbs in 24 hours). Basically I wasted $120 bucks just to end up sending it back to Fikse. The wheels are 17x8" with 235/40 tires.

Since I have a set of OEM 10 spokes with Blizzack 225/45s for the winter what should I do while I am getting this fixed:

1. just run one OEM (passenger front) as a spare;

2. put two OEMs on the front;

3. put all four OEMs on;

4. suck it up and drive to TMS tomorrow and buy a new wheel.

5. give up on Boston roads and buy a jeep with 35" tires and a winch.

Let me know what you would do

Damn! You guys must have some crazy potholes if you need a winch to pull yourself out :D

Seriously though, if you think bending wheels your fikse's is going to be a problem down the road as well, you might want to buy a fifth wheel. That way you can always have four on the car without downtime while the fifth one is being straightened. After all, it doesn't hurt to have a matching spare!

Then there's no way you sent them to Rimpro! If you did, let me know, 'Cause I'll call Tom and f***** barbecue his ass!

No I didn't :(

I went with the other shop reccommended by someone on this board, TMS and they are a sponsor of the boston BMWCCA.

I can't say I am entirely disappointed with them but here is what happened.

They told me right up front that striaghtening a two-piece wheel could create problems with the seal - I took my chances. They straightned it well and told me it wasn't leaking so I picked it up and drove on it to my house. What really burned me was that they guy who balanced the wheel put weights on the outside of the rim and I had to have them rebalance it with weights on the inside.The next morning I noticed my car pulling hard - tire pressure down to 15lbs - not good!

So, leave my car in the garage all weekend, call the shop on monday and they tell me they are sorry but i was warned (which i was and did feel terrible). Now $120 into it i call Fikse (which I should have done in the first place) who say no problem for $75 they will reseal it but I need to get the tire taken off (another $20 x2) and pay to ship it out...about 5 minutes later the local shop calls me back and say "oh by the way, i just found out that someone here does know how to reseal a two-piece, drop it off and we'll do it for $75"

So long story short - against all my better judgement I brought the wheel back and they are working on it as I type. I am kind of pissed that i will end up spending over $200, mounting and remounting my tires several times, leaving work early a bunch of times and I could have just bought a new-used one for about $400.

Hopefully on Friday I will have a wheel as good as new - but somehow I just feel like shit about the whole thing.

Should have driven a little farther to go to Rimpro!
