Has anyone every done this? I'm not talking about the replica ones that people buy from FM but the real OEM wheels. They've been my favorite BMW wheel, period, since they've been out and I've never seen it done.

I've looked around a bit and haven't been able to find much other than pictures with the replicas. Anyway, how much fender modification would be needed with these specs? And would I clear the inner wheel well or would I need some spacers? I don't mind pulling the fenders...as long as the wheels are sitting flush and the fenders are just tucking.

I'm thinking hyper-black for the color...

Here's the specs...

Style 65's...
8"x18" front, 20mm offset
9.5"x18" rear, 22mm offset
5x120

Now I've read that an 8.5 inch wide 18" with a 38mm offset will fit with no modifications at all.

My question to the wheel gurus is with the specs on the style 65's, about how much would I be pulling the fenders, and will the inside clear? If not what size spacer should I run. I have looked around and haven't been able to find much in the way of how wheels are sized and measured...I know the basics but I want to be sure before I pick a set up.

What I've put together is that the rear is going to be almost 20mm's farther out than the stock wheel is...and - same with the front.

What do you guys say? I'd still like to run something nice and thick back there - 275's in the rear and 245's up front.

Thanks doodz...lemme know what you think. When it comes down to it I guess it's just a matter of getting the wheels and fitting them on. :D

And for reference here's the wheel I'm talking about...

all e39 wheels use a different center bore from all other bmw wheels.

the offsets are all wrong.

i think if you solved the center bore, you could get 4 fronts to work, but the rears are going to require alot of fender work.

I don't mind the fender work - I'm actually looking for a reason to pull them...this is kinda my dream combo if you want to know the truth.

I know the center bore is 74.1mm on the M5 and the E36's is 72.6mm but I figured that a centering ring could be used if necessary and, most likely, if I needed to I could get the spacers milled to the right size - which would be ideal...:alright

And no way I'd settle for 4 fronts...the whole point of these wheels is way the staggered look sets off the car. If that didn't matter to me I'd just get some replicas.

it can work, just pull the hell out of the rear fenders and run some 215s, no spacers necessary however youll need the $15 metal hubcentric rings from tirerack

I'd like to be able to run a broad range of tire sizes...everything from 215's all the way to 275's...I'm just worried I'd need a little bit of tubbing on the inside...and if that's the case I'd probably can the idea. I have a pretty good deal of camber, too.

Most definitely - it won't be for a while but I'm gonna figure out what's necessary to do so - I'll keep you guys updated. :)
