Today i was driving on the highway for a long period of time (70s-90s mph)

my temp gauge would not go much past the blue mark on the gauge. Is this normal or is my thermostat stuck open ?

edit: it would move up to the middle when i stopped and left the car running. or when driving at non hwy speeds

It's not normal at all, sounds like it's stuck open or you may have an air bubble near the sensor. Your heater works properly, no?

heat works fine. it is better when the car is fully warm but it still worked fine

It's your t-stat. My E36 did the same thing for about 1 year until I replaced the T-stat, then instantly everything was back to normal.

good luck

Yes I wouldn't drive it to much your thermostat is stuck on cold. Replace it. Your lucky it stuck on cold and not heat its 50 50 chance ital stick either direction. My car did the same thing I would try to fix it asap.
