Hey guys and gals,

I have an 98 328i and i was thinking about uping the head unit a bit. My long term goal will be a carputer but i am hell bent on keeping her looking as stock as possible. Theref or the screen kit that is floating around isn't going to work. Are there any flip out single dinns our there that maintain that stock feel? I am familiar with the traffic pro after reading some posts but i was looking for a complete screen although that HU is sick. Also i seen a post that contained a NA version of the e36 nav setup if anyone can give me alittle more info on that. Thanks guys i appreciate the help. I tried posting in the car audio section and nobody wanted to help a little e36 out so i figured to cut the middle men and try to experts. Thanks

What is it you are looking for in a HU, exactly?

I've got a JVC KD-AR870 in mine, and love it. It doesn't have anything fancy with it, though. No color screen, but it does flip down to give access to the CD slot. Looks nice in the dash, too.

Im looking for the same type of thing to keep the "stock look," however I would like one that has the iPod connector and controls on it as that is what I typically use instead of CDs

I am looking for a flip out full screen. I would like to end up with a carputer but i wanted to start with getting a screen first and work backwards. I would prefer it to be touchscreen for the huge convienence factor but other then that i just want it to keep the look of a BMW. Does anyone have any info on the stock navigation unit for the e36. I seen a post on in a while ago but i can't find anyone with info. If that has a clean look to it i could probably mod that. thanks

im not sure if it will match with the bmw look but i know clarion carries alot of ipod HUs with which you can control you ipod through the headunit so you can cram the ipod in the glovebox.
