Well, I guess we all need a success story now and again. My e36 needs SO much work, none of it major but just such a very long list of things. Frankly I didn't know where to start and was putting things off. I had lost all the enthusiasm and good intentions that I had when I bought it, was starting to get downhearted and giving serious thought to just offering it for sale cheap, so that someone else could put what is basically a very sound car back into some kind of shape. But I have a week off work now, and over the weekend and today I have replaced the headliner (thanks to the excellent DIY thread on this forum by "Old Skool"), cured the gremlins in the windows (the random up-and-down thing that others have experienced in e36 coupes), got the central locking system working again and fixed (I think, time will tell!) the electrical bugs in the car. I've also given it a thorough cleaning inside and out, including the engine bay, and have gone from being sick of the sight of the car a few days ago to gazing admiringly at it in the driveway once again. What a change in mood and attitude a few successfully completed projects can bring. Next up, to the shop for some bodywork, a new front bumper, and hopefully some new rims - looking hard at the classifieds on this forum.
Just wanted to share - I'm sure other people on this forum get depressed when the interior on their e36 is falling apart around their ears and seemingly nothing electrical will work any longer. But it feels so good when you can start to see some progress!
