Hello BMW fellas,

I have some questions that needed your expertise on replacing brake rotors and pads for my car. It'll be my first time DIY:)

* What brand do you recommend that is not expensive?
** Is it worth to get drilled/slotted rotors?
*** Do I need to change all brake sensors every time I replace brake pads?

Thanks so much

- Which means you MUST - I repeat, MUST - buy a service manual for the vehicle. Get the Bentley, which is the best. I actually found that Amazon.com had them cheaper than I could find them on Ebay. And don't cut corners - brakes are one of your primary safety systems. Follow the book PRECISELY.

* What brand do you recommend that is not expensive?

- No preference. If you're street driving, any decent brand will work. I like semi-metallic brake pads myself, as they don't require racing temperatures to work but they tolerate occasional spirited driving and last well.

** Is it worth to get drilled/slotted rotors?

- Not for street driving.

*** Do I need to change all brake sensors every time I replace brake pads?

- No. They're not replaced unless they fail. Just make sure they're adjusted properly.

For pads, don't cheap out, but don't get racing pads. Racing pads require alot of hard stops before they start to work well. Look for something around $50. Bavarianautosport.com has pads for your car. I think Pagid is the name.

You don't need new wear sensors, and stick with OEM blanks, meaning no slotted or cross drilled rotors.

i just bought all the stuff you are talking about and iv been doing some research here are my conclusions.

1. for pads go with the oem, Jurid
2. unless u autox ur car there is no need for fancy rotors such as drilled or vented or anything else. just buy the regular vented brembos and ull be fine :)
