My 92 325I has a rough idle and I've checking everything else I could read up on and everything checks out ok so I'm looking into the DME. Got it pulled out and opened and from the looks of it its gotten wet before but its dry as a bone right now. My question is there are 2 boards samwiched and I can't figure out how to remove the top board from the assembly. Any clues?

I just disassembled the DME on my 328i and it looks completely different. The metal tabs along the sides were what I removed to get it to pop up, but according to the directions, you shouldn't have to do that for yours...

MY board looks alot like the board in the link (2 boards). Is yours a single board?

Mine's a double, and the whole chassis is able to be disassembled. There were 2 plastic retaining clips holding metal clips along the sides that allowed the top portion to be removed. There was no ribbon connecting the two boards, they seemed to operate independently of each other.
Four screws allowed the bottom of the board to seperate from the chassis, but only after the top board was removed with the retaining clips. I hope I'm explaining this properly...
But that board looks nothing like my board, really. It seems that the top flips up to reveal the lower board, and they're connected by a ribbon.

Got it seperated, had to pull further up on the board to get it to release from a rail on the plastic clip. :)
From the looks of it the board got wet at some point in time, no cracked solder joints found yet. But who knows this stuff is small even with a magnifying glass.

You can clean the board with some Industrial Alcohol or board cleaner in order to restore the connections in case there's corrosion.

Yep, done that. Nothing real heavy used some contact cleaner and a tooth brush.

I had a fault code pop up for the "DME", I have no idea what that this part controls. Can anyone tell me what it does?

I found out what it does, but do you think it could have an effect on the interior lights not working?
