hi everyone,

i have a 1998 bmw 328i.

i am a newbie to cars and i need some help please.

today i looked under my car after i returned home and i noticed a pile of water (its not green, its not oilly, it just looks and feels like water), but it is definitely leaking from a part from the car.

the general area of the leak is to the left of the drivers side front wheel.
because i am a newbie user i am not allowed to post pictures. if you want to help me out, can you PM me and i can send you the link...

i am going to contact my mechanic about this tomorrow, but i am a little anxious right now, and i was hoping to get some helpful advice/pinpointing of the problem.

thank you all for your help,

I just checked the coolant level and it is around the same spot as it was last week, right at the black marking. (Yes I check my coolant levels pretty frequently).

Can anyone else me? Please.

Did you have the AC on?

No, I didn't have it on, but I see what your thinking.

Everytime I turn on the car, my heating/fan come on, but I turn them off right away.

Last week I had my rear defroaster on, but that's it.

Have you been through a car wash lately or has it been raining, it could be a remote drain from some part of the car. My kids dsm has a drain for the sunroof tracks that drain near the back of the car I think. Just my $.02

thanks for the tip. it rained last week and i was thinking the same thing, but no, i don't think it is rain runoff....

I can't think of anything on the driver's side that'd leak...

Honestly, if the fluids are all checking out and nothing seems to be wrong other than the water (not coolant), I'd just write it off as one of those "Freaky Wierd Things that Sometimes Happens".

Keep an eye on the fluids, though.

You know, one thing it could be is wind shield washer fluid? Don't suppose you've used the squirters recently, have you?

thanks for the post.

i used my windshield washers last week, but it has been pretty dry the last 4 days.
