Well, this really suck. My friend took my car out for a short drive, and hit the curb. It looks bad. Both front tires are gone, as well as the wheels. Both front wheels were push backward to the door. All the liners, underpanels came off. I think the struts and lower control arms are difinitely gone. But I am afraid there is goin to be more than just that. What other suspension components could be damaged?
Thanks guys.

Front subframe could easily have been damaged. It should be checked over carefully.
I hope your "friend" has money. That said, the damage is'nt that bad if it's confined to trim and suspension components - think of it as an opportunity to refresh them on someone else's dime.

at the very least new control arms. but yea a new front subframe is worst case scenario.
this is the very reason why i dont let friends drive my car. because chances are if they @#$% something up they wont pay for it.

Sounds like he may have totalled it! YEP don't loan your car out, period!
WHEN true friends break things they pay for them, IF they can't take the risk
of doing so then they shouldn't borrow things!

How many of these "friend drove, crashed MY car" threads have we had?
Letting someone drive YOUR car is one of the most stupidest things you can
do imo. Why put something you work hard for in another persons hands? :mad
Other than that, check your shock towers an sways.

:lol
His friend is obligated to pay for it, and if he doesn't take his ass to judge judy. File a police accident report and find out what car insurance he has.

Hit a curb? Both wheels?
After get grazed by some guy which sent me off into a curb I bent my LCA, broke the tie rod, bent the strut hat, destroyed the LCAB, exploded the rim, scratched the bumper, bent the fender.

Hopefully the LCA just took the blow like they were designed to do.

You guys are terrible friends if you can't forgive. I trust a select amount of people with the keys to my car, and most of them CAN pay for the damage.

The tie rods are pretty soft in an accident. Hopefully he just bent the TR.

The the strut bent back like that, does the strut tower get wasted, too? Or does the strut mount just deform. Seems too me if it's bad enough the strut tower will get bent which won't be cheap to fix.
Yea, I'm always reluctant to even let family members drive my cars. No one drives my M3, not even the wife.

It really depends, If my bearing had less play in it, maybe it would have, but the part for strut tower is 3 and change and the labor would be about 800.
When I realeased the strut from the hub it just went back to its normal position.

i hit a curb a while ago and destroyed the suspension on the left front side, i needed new LCA, wheels x2, radiator+support+fan, AC condenser+fan, AC pully, new fender, bumper, side skirt and corner light. it came to about $2500 inc labour. insurance covered it, i also got a new convertible top out of it because the rollover bars deployed and tore some stitching on the top.
post up some pics and we may be able to asses the damage a bit better.

Wow, sounds bad. I hope that you're planning on going through insurance for this. What part of SoCal are you in?

Looks like he hit as hard as I did, except mine hit the right rear and every suspension item had to be replaced in that area and more (busted an axle, etc). Your wheel looks identical in damage. I went through insurance and it was ~$7000 in damage including labor.

Yeah, your rear subframe had a lot of damage, the hard lines were damaged too.

No offense to the opposed minds, but my friends will always be more important to me than metal, rubber, and an M badge.
If they borrow your car, crash it, and refuse to pay, perhaps they're not your friends after all, and that should've been something you saw beforehand.

Well, he is one of my best friend but when it comes to money, he is kinda bitch to deal with. He wants to self pay but i told him we should go through his insurance. I don't want to change few of the major suspension components, drive it few days and find out anything else is wrong.....it will be tough to go back to him and claim more money for more repairs. This is not as busy as a fender bender.
He was a bit carrying away when he thought the M3 can make a turn without braking....duh :confused
I don't know if the insurance will totalled my car on that kind of damage.

i don't think you read that he said the front tires were pushed back to the door...not just one but both...i am willing to bet the car is totaled just of the location of the tires
