If its a regular thing, clean the windows as resin accumulates. You should be fine, crack a window for a couple of hours, just enough time to smoke a joint elsewhere.

Just air your car out. When you're smoking crack a window or tilt the sunroof. If you need to air it out faster just go for a quick driver with all the windows down. Dank generally doesn't stick too long. If you really need to cover up the smell for whatever reason there is always febreeze. From now on just crack a window and blast the heat and you shouldn't have this problem.

I get a lot of customers who want the smoke smell out, and occasionally the 16yro stoner kid who has a road trip or something and is freaking out about the smell. I charge them and do nothing but the standard cleaning. There are different potency's of weed, and with them they leave behind different odors. Weed inherently is not a clingy smelling smoke, especially if you smoke out of a bowl. Tobacco is a very clingy smoke in which it infiltrates all forms of fabric and material. Smoking joints is what causes the weed smell to stay. If you smoke out of bowl or a sneak-a-toke, then the left over smoke won't stain any of the fabric. What will cause a smell to linger is continual smoking where resin and ash build up, which is what causes the 'earthy' smell.

Anyways, to remedy vaccum all carpet and seats, condition the leather, clean out anywhere you might have ashed. This is a good opportunity to clean the stains off of your carpet. For over the counter sales, purchase 'Tuff Stuff' from any local auto or cleaning store. Shake well, and spray foam onto a vaccumed, but stained carpet. Let soak for 5-10 minutes then pat and scrub with a damp clean cloth, preferably microfiber or terry. This will remove or hide most stains, considering most people don't have access to a steamer and/or extractor. The Tuff Stuff will leave behind a fresher smell and I can nearly guarantee you won't smell the weed anymore.

Whatever you do, avoid putting in any odor hiding products from your local auto parts store. These do have staining properties, so the odor will never go away without some serious cleaning. Your local head shop should have some neutral odor eliminator that usually works well at removing staining odors.

And for reference, I can promise any naysayers that 90% of the 'stoners' out there are not the hippy, unbathed, uneducated population. I have a can of ozium in my car... its like 1/3 of a small can, and it does wonders when my parents need to borrow one of my cars for somethin. I dont smoke, but my friends do.. so it always smells like cigarettes in my car (no weed permitted in my car... only outside or other peoples houses :))

what i do on cars (mine and others) is i turn the vents on full blast, recirc off. I spray the can of ozium into the cowl where the fresh air inlet is. I let it blow into the car. Then, i turn recirc on and let it circulate throughout the car. After a while, turn the a/c on, recirc off. Spray it into the cowl again, then turn recirc on. After while, drive the car with all windows down. Smell is gone!

Ozium stays around for a few hours though, so a light spray of it will be sufficient. Be careful though, its glycolized, so it'll knock you out of you let it linger in your lungs!

Seriously though, i was in your same boat when i bought one of my cars. There is only one thing that worked for me, and I do NOT take responsibility for any mishaps using this method. Smoking weed is not my bag and i hate the odor...therefor drastic measures were needed.

Get scented candles in a big bowl so you dont get wax anywhere. make sure you dont care about the bowls(eating bowls...not the type of bowls you are thinking) and light em up after you have removed your front seats(or you can keep em in there if you really really want to be dangerous)

Now your front seats, you need to spray with fabreeze and keep spraying for the duration of your candle experience(leather you will spray the foam undersides and rub the leather down with leather cleaner INCESSANTLY). Let them sit outside in the sun if you can for the duration of a day. Now, make sure you watch these candles as an open flame in a car is VERY dangerous. What you can do while you watch this crap sits in your car(or incense) with the windows and doors closed, is track down the inlet of your cars fan. take of any grill or venting and spray the crap out of the inside of this thing with your favorite cologne. I personally spray the crap out of it with zaino leather cleaner...smells like a leather shop.

Now once the candles have burned out or have burned for a good 3-4 hours, you can go ahead and remove them, but quickly, and close your car up. Let it sit overnight, move your seats in to your garage overnight and let them sit with a bit of spray on leather cleaner on them(do not wipe off) or some fabreeze if they are cloth. Next day open her up, put your seats in. Hook your car up to a battery tender or be ready to jump it, but turn your air on outside vent and let it go for about 4-5 hours. Come out and spray your air inlet with your scent of choice every 30 minutes to hour. Now...once you are finished there will be NO smell in your car but good smells.

This might be overkill, but will work 100 percent of the time. I do this for people who have dog doo, cat piss, vomit, old people smell, ect (including weed) all the time and has always worked. Hope it does for you too!

haha i love how people are so careful to say they smoke buds or that they have smoked buds.... the only illegal things involving marijuana - posession & distribution. The act of physically smoking it is not illegal, unless falling under the pretenses(sp?) of posession, which if under 20 grams is only a misdemeanor offense and will most likely be a slap on the hand and some probation time.

Personally, i do not smoke with paper products often because that takes the taste and the natural aspect of it out. Occasionally a finely rolled Spliff, or a nice Bob Marley joint will be in order but usually i enjoy packing my collapsable(sp?) "bubbling water pipe" (bong)



If you really want to be obsessive over the smell, change your cabin filter, spray your a/c vents with Ozium (vanilla prefereed here) and then leave the car running with heat on for 5 minutes... DO NOT SIT IN IT, you may get higher.

There doesn't have to be some special procedure, if you think there is then your high right now and your paranoid. Its not that hard, especially with leather seats, but I feel like I have to detail my car everytime I do. But the new years reso. is to quit, 32 hours and counting!!

I did drive once under the effect. I smoked at a band rehearsal (a garage band I was into), and drove 7miles right after, at night. I remember thinking that every couple headlights car that would come behind me were someone trying to catch me, so I would drive fast as hell for about a minute to lose them. Even houses lights, I thought they were cars waiting for me on the side of the road ahead. I don't think I was used to it at all, and I don't plan to get into it again.

I did have real problems with alcool and cocaine, for about a year. I could have a new sway bar or whatever stuff I would like to have now with just the cocaine I would consume on one evening. Glad I'm over it now.

I'm not telling you guys not to do it in the first place. But all things considered, is it worth it?

Well since were all coming out with stories, I use to smoke a lot of pot just got over it around this year as My obsession with my car became greater and money went from pot to car. Which I think is great my car looks nicer, my graders are better etc.

But When I use to smoke I would roll down all 4 windows after smoking (leaving it cracked while smoking) and drive 35mph+ for 30 seconds that takes most of it out, after that id roll up the windows spray ozium let it sit for a minute than open my windows and it would be gone. If you have leather interior that is.


But hey.....pots not worth it. You spend $30 a week for a year thats $1560

My friend always had this problem in his ford explorer (2 door edition). I didnt like the smell when I sat in his car so I will give my 2 cents. Buy some fart bombs from china town and pop em in your carwith the windows closed. Weed is the last thing cops would think you smoked, and it might repel them too. HAHA, just messin. But try spraying some ceap perfume along with all the cleaning products. At my school, the smell dog always thought something funny was in my car, and would signal at my car each time they did searches. I never had anything because I never smoked anything or even drank or anything. I asked the officer why he thinks the dog signals my car, and he said that it could have even been something as slight as an alcohol spill from the previous owner a few years back. But still, some fart bombs might repel a dog too. This reminds me of a time I played a prank on my friend and cracked some of those bombs in his car. He shampooed that accord for a week straight. Seriously though, i was in your same boat when i bought one of my cars. There is only one thing that worked for me, and I do NOT take responsibility for any mishaps using this method. Smoking weed is not my bag and i hate the odor...therefor drastic measures were needed.

Get scented candles in a big bowl so you dont get wax anywhere. make sure you dont care about the bowls(eating bowls...not the type of bowls you are thinking) and light em up after you have removed your front seats(or you can keep em in there if you really really want to be dangerous)

Now your front seats, you need to spray with fabreeze and keep spraying for the duration of your candle experience(leather you will spray the foam undersides and rub the leather down with leather cleaner INCESSANTLY). Let them sit outside in the sun if you can for the duration of a day. Now, make sure you watch these candles as an open flame in a car is VERY dangerous. What you can do while you watch this crap sits in your car(or incense) with the windows and doors closed, is track down the inlet of your cars fan. take of any grill or venting and spray the crap out of the inside of this thing with your favorite cologne. I personally spray the crap out of it with zaino leather cleaner...smells like a leather shop.

Now once the candles have burned out or have burned for a good 3-4 hours, you can go ahead and remove them, but quickly, and close your car up. Let it sit overnight, move your seats in to your garage overnight and let them sit with a bit of spray on leather cleaner on them(do not wipe off) or some fabreeze if they are cloth. Next day open her up, put your seats in. Hook your car up to a battery tender or be ready to jump it, but turn your air on outside vent and let it go for about 4-5 hours. Come out and spray your air inlet with your scent of choice every 30 minutes to hour. Now...once you are finished there will be NO smell in your car but good smells.

This might be overkill, but will work 100 percent of the time. I do this for people who have dog doo, cat piss, vomit, old people smell, ect (including weed) all the time and has always worked. Hope it does for you too!


I only smoked weed about twice on my whole life (I'm about to enter my 24th). Also never on my car. I don't like how it takes away from me the sense of control I have on my body and on my mind.

I did drive once under the effect. I smoked at a band rehearsal (a garage band I was into), and drove 7miles right after, at night. I remember thinking that every couple headlights car that would come behind me were someone trying to catch me, so I would drive fast as hell for about a minute to lose them. Even houses lights, I thought they were cars waiting for me on the side of the road ahead. I don't think I was used to it at all, and I don't plan to get into it again.

I did have real problems with alcool and cocaine, for about a year. I could have a new sway bar or whatever stuff I would like to have now with just the cocaine I would consume on one evening. Glad I'm over it now.

I'm not telling you guys not to do it in the first place. But all things considered, is it worth it?

I thought I would throw out my solutions for the "tobacco smell". By that I actually mean cigars in particular. If you smoke while the car is driving with the windows cracked, the smoke should be pulled out rather easily. If you have a leather interior, there should be damn near 0 smell residue.

If you are smoking with the car sitting still (with a cloth interior in particular) the smell will remain in the car, even if you are blowing it towards the open window.

My solution: Vinegar. You pour a 16oz bottle of vinegar into a kitchen bowl and place it on the floorboards with the windows up. Let it sit for something like 6-8 hours, remove the bowl and crack the windows. The next day the car will still smell like Vinegar, but the rest of the odors will be gone (I have used this trick for both Cigars and Champagne scented vomit). To remove the Vinegar smell, drive around with the windows open and leave them cracked when parked. It took less than 20 minutes of driving to get the Vinegar smell out of my leather interiored car, and about 2 days of short trips to get it out of the cloth interior.

Just thought I would throw out my $.02.

Here's my diy: If on highway(which is the best way to have less odor), crack open 1 front window and 1 rear window but they have to be the same side of the car. While in motion this creates a constant vacuum of air to outside. Ofcourse if you have a sunroof your just fine, actually better b/c too much air coming from windows will make the blunt/joint burn way too fast and you'd be surprised how fast ash will ruin your day.But the sunroof is more forgiving. When just cruising, drop the windows more.

I like to keep a microfiber detailing glove in the glovebox b/c I hold blunts with my shifting hand. Its good to clean up any rogue ash or else it will make things look dirty and worn. I dont have the stock ashtrays so I bought 1 from a-zone/pepboys/carwash that goes in cup holder. Its tall so I barely move my arm from the shifter. The stock ashtrays look alittle out of the way to be ashing and driving while high. Ashing out the window can be messy, especially when it rains. Ash can stick to paint bad

Empty ashtrays to avoid lingering smells. I suggest those air fresheners that clip to vents and be set to min>max. The cotton one does wonders for me. For those that use bowls, resin can really stink a car up. Maybe a small ziplock can help if you have that prob. Spray floors and headliners to attack odors but dont overdo the spraying, esp. ozium. If I have some1 in the back they have to pass weed over the armrest to avoid burns or drops on seats or panels. And smoke is bad for cheap brand flipouts!

spraying the headliners too would have helped but hey, can't argue if it didn't work for you. Back in my less responsible days my parents left me with their corolla and the day they came back I vacuumed it and sprayed it with febreeze and no ass whoopin'. That's what air freshners and vent fresheners are for. And do you smoke ganja? B/c your vocab is pretty bad dude. But your still right about the smell causing problems. A friend and I got pulled over in his old corolla (seeing a pattern huh) at an exit check point for seat belts. We had just finished smoking less than 10 minutes ago in the same car but he had an air freshener that's strong as hell. But you know what the cop ended up smelling? A bowl this idiot associate of ours had left in the car without my friend knowing. That's why I'm not a fan of smoking bowls/pipes in cars.

I don't roll down the windows or anything when I'm in the car. I leave them up so that I'm not leaving a trail of 'evidence' behind me for someone to smell. With the windows up nobody knows wtf is going on in my car (dark tint helps too). Once I'm done - I wait for a clear spot and drop the windows -- letting the car air out for a few minutes. MJ doesn't linger too long -- and it's also NOT ILLEGAL to SMELL like marijuana. So I DO recommend using joint or blunts because you can eat them extremely easily if pulled -- much easier to hide all the evidence than a pipe and baggie. Just don't keep the roaches.... bad bad idea.

As a K9 handler (private contract) with 6 dogs (3 narcotic, 3 explosive)....I can assure you that sprays and cover up type scents don't work. Dogs can separate out odors. Where you and I smell a pizza...dogs smell each ingredient available. I recently screened a vehicle where the driver had 4 different bottles of cologne/after shave/FeBreeze...didn't slow my K9 down one second. Found the dope within 30 seconds.

Yes, the Ozium works wonders...I use it everywhere, including my intake vents.

Toto, of course the dogs can smell the ganj'...but the cop who comes up to the window won't even smell a hint of it.
