Had an apparent failure to my outside temp indicator the other night. The outside temperature jumped from a fairly steady 31 degrees F to the high 40's. At same time the yellow engine over temp indicator flashed on for a couple of seconds. Also the car interior temp dropped (while in auto mode). As I continued to drive the outside temp indicator varied from the mid 40's to 99 degrees, usually dropping in temp as the car spead up. Over temp light never came on again and car ran fine for about 40 miles until I reached my destination. About 2 hours after I reached my destination I realized what may have happened. It was raining and sleeting, since the outside temp was about 31 degrees, and I had a "bra" on the front end. Every thing went crazy when I crossed the Delaware River On I-95 I believe the rain/sleet froze on the bra's mesh in front of the grill which blocked the air flow. I went outside to check for ice, but it had melted, so I could not confirm my theroy. Called up local dealer the next day and they took car in for check and found nothing wrong. They agreed my theroy was probably the cause of the apparent temp malfunction. Car and temp indicator are working fine. Kudos to JMF Auto Sales in Sprinfield, NJ for taking me in a short notice to check car. I live in NC so they are not my normal BMW dealer. Anyone else experience a similar problem?

The outside temp sensor is located in the driver's wheel well at the top under a cover...see if that's the problem.
