Not sure on a weight, but it should be easily picked up by two reasonably sized guys. I can pick up a m20 crank and block by myself individually pretty easily.
I can pick my S52 block with the crank in it up and I'm about 6'1" and 165#. I would say the block is right around 100# and the crank is about 60#.
M52 POWER!

I didn't say I carried it far :D
Just from the ground onto the engine stand and I also sat it in the floor of my Mr2, thats with the crank in it. Without the crank in it I can lift just the block without much struggle.

Yeah. I have carried a few empty blocks around without much trouble. No need to break yourself leaving the crank in too though.

Ever since you know about the effects of weight loading on your spine :nono

That's why you condition muscles to handle loads and not your spine.

Liar or someone with back pains.I'm 135/5'8" and can lift my block on my own. Yes back pain is a bitch, but I have a previously fractured spine anyways so a little more pain is hardly noticed, and the muscles get used to it.
I'd estimate the block at a bit over 100lbs and the crank at around 50lbs. Or less, the crank doesn't seem very heavy to me.

Yeah, but most people don't bother to try lifting something like a block properly, especially when it's not in a convenient shape. I just want people to know that it's relatively easy to damage your back, and the problems you get now just escalate as you grow old.

Screw the weight. The worse part was how sharp the cylinder edges were!

I think the whole engine is about 450lbs (last time I shipped my 328i) ... So i'd say about 300-350lbs
