A lot of people are inquiring about our turbo kits for the M3 these days, and I wanted to answer four very common questions, "Can I install this kit myself? Can I take it to my local shop for installation? Can I ship my M3 to you for the installation? Can I see the instructions?" The answers to those questions are Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes.

Can I Install This kit Myself?

The answer to this question requires some clarification. We want every customer to have a great experience driving on our products and in order to do so, the installation must be done precisely. The person installing this kit must have a good understanding of how turbos work and must have some automotive experience. They must also be anal retentive and be able to read and follow instructions very thoroughly. Our kit (if installed improperly) could result in engine damage. As such we created what I consider to be one of the most comprehensive disassembly, assembly, and troubleshooting manuals that I have ever seen (some excerpts are below). Our goal is to make sure that whoever installs this product has at their fingertips all the information they need to make sure the installation is done properly. So the answer to the question is Yes.

Can I take it to my local shop for installation?

Absolutely. However... We recommend that you only take it to a shop that has been authorized by us so we can do our own background check on them first. We are currently authorizing dealers and installation facilities around the world and are authorizing new dealers every day. For a list of our current dealers, click http://www.horsepowerfreaks.com/hpfdealers/.

Can I ship my M3 to you for the installation?

Absolutely. As soon as your order is placed, we can typically have a truck at your door within 24 hours to pick up your M3. The transportation rates we have been getting for our customers these days are very competitive ($600 to $1200 each way depending on location), and most customers simply have us include the transportation costs along with the rest of the order.

Can I see the instructions?

Absolutely. Although we don't want to publish all 158 pages of our instructions (172 pages for SMG), I've taken some pictures of the manual so that potential customers can get an idea of what to expect of them. Our instructions were designed and produced assuming that "customers" would be installing these kits themselves. As such we've laid out the entire disassembly and installation process in a very easy step by step work-flow. We've detailed every nut, bolt, clip and all parts removed or installed with a picture describing the part along with it's location. To further ensure the right steps were followed, we've added arrows and the exact motion required to remove or install each part on the pictures themselves. Following these steps allows the installer to proceed in a very simple, straightforward process that takes them from planning out the installation all the way to driving the car and testing the results.

wow!!!....the most excellent attention to detail I have ever seen!!!!!.........

little things like taking the time out to put together an easy to understand(w/ pictures) manual are what impress me the most............lots of vendors think they can get by on the product alone and forget all the little things..

I wish every vendor was like you guys!!!!.......product are amazing, things get done when you say they will, and did I mention the attention to detail!!!!
HPF delivers again!!!

Awesome! I am looking forward to the first thread where someone uses this manual to install their own HPF E46 M3 turbo kit and posts their impressions.

Look good but I'm wondering if it includes tool sizes and torque settings. That would be even better.

Look good but I'm wondering if it includes tool sizes and torque settings. That would be even better.

Absolutely. It includes the tools required, torque settings to use (where necessary) and specifcs as to their use. These instructions have also been tested by other technicians on our staff to verify each and every step.

We're shipping a couple kits out to do-it-yourself customers this week and next week that will be following these instructions. One customer is currently in Iraq but he will be back shortly to perform his installation.

can you finance me...for the next 10 years lol

Sure... Give David a call, I'm sure he can set this up. :)

Looks to be like the most comprehensive set of instructions for anything automotive I've ever seen. Very nice guys.

Thanks. That's was a definite goal of ours as well since we've all installed other products that weren't so user friendly.

The pictures seem to show the tools and socket sizes used. I would imagne it also includes torque settings. Very impressive.

Nice work, and the professionalism is excellent for the industry since it forces others to raise the bar, which works out really well for the consumers.

I might just have to buy one of these once people start installing them and we see how reliable they are (along with how the drivetrain copes with roughly doubling the power)

Well the e39 m5 kit won't be too much more than the e46m3 kit so if I went HPF I would just do the e39 m5 which I already have. I am already scheduled for a ride in both the S3 e46 m3 widebody and TT M5 at Bimmerfest May, 3 2008. I might be in trouble. :devillook
