This could go into the car audio/electronics section and probabaly has been covered before but whatever. Im looking for a nice alarm system for my car. Factory would be nice but its hard to find them used and new they are expensive. Just let me know what you guys run for alarm/keyless entries; how much you paid, where you got it, how you like it, was it plug and play, etc. Thanks

I got a viper alarm system at my buddy's shop. The 350HV model. I bought it a few years ago at my buddy's shop. I've had no complaints. I didn't get the 2 way remotes, but it has a shock sensor, and kill switch, etc. You can get a motion sensor for it if you want.

Is it kind of overkill? How was the install too? I heard the viper alarms are relaly sensitive. IE, you put it in your pocket and it will lock and unlock your car because it hits things in the pocket and because the range is so long.

LoL, I didn't install it.They installed it when they did my system install.

It isn't bad, but I have activated/deactivated on accident when I dind't want to, but I also have a fair amount of crap on my keychain. When I use my spare key (just the key and alarm remote) I never accidently activate it. But my main keychain, has the ///M3 keychain, a shocker keychain, and a myriad of keys, so when I just ball it up and go to put it in my pocket I've done it. It isn't a big deal, just repush the button. :)

I have this one http://www.unitedautosecurity.com/productdetails.aspx?pid=24&main_catid=
and it works great. It's plug and play and it even adds the comfort feature (closes windows and sun roof).

I bought the factory alarm off ebay for around $150 if I remember correctly... brand new, in box too! Not the best protection, but I mainly wanted it for the keyless entry and plug and play (took about an hour to install).
