My dad is looking to get into a wagon and found the following demo model at his local (Northern OH) dealer:

• Year: 2007
• Model: BMW 328xi Sports Wagon
• Special Options: Monaco Blue Metallic/ Beige Dakota Leather
apprx 7700 miles.
Cold Weather Package Premium Package, All-wheel-drive, Steptronic Automatic Transmission, Xenon Headlights
Sale price 39,900

I configured a new model on bmw.com and brand new the same car stickers for something like 43,275.

This seems to me to be a pretty pathetic deal. What's everybody paying (relative to MSRP/invoice) for new 328s? Any specific advice?

Also, somewhat unrelated, is there anyway to switch from Sirius to XM? It was a 30 second procedure in my GTI once you found someone with the other module. Has BMW always been Sirrius only or did they ever make XM units?

Unfortunately, BMWs are Sirius-only.

You're not going to get much off MSRP on a BMW in general. That said, for a 7k mile demo car, that seems a little high, but not that far off.

Go to edumnds.com and calculate the invoice price. You should be able to get 1-2% above invoice for a 2007 with that many miles on it. It's basically a demo at this point. And you're only going to get 85% of the 50000 mile warranty, as it is.

Actually if it was enrolled as a demo it should have an additional 5,000 miles on the warranty. Dealers are not compensated a great deal on the 3 series demos if at all and it sounds like theirs is priced at invoice so if you like the car go for it.

You should be able to find new one for that price...07s are discounted to get them out of the lots.
