You are going to learn more and get better info for what YOU want to do if you read around here. Look at that parked thread, search for info... there's a TON of information on here, you just need to look for it. Good luck, welcome to BMW and the forums!
Maintanence is a b*tch..... after the car is taken care of, it's worth it.
Use quality/recomended parts. cost more; but helps in the long run.
No boost, no 300+

Well you'll want to spend money on maintainance first. If you have $4000 left after that you would be looking at a c38 stage 1 supercharger from marco (marc1119). Ideally you'd replace your valve retainers but having the head rebuilt with new ones will cost you over $1k alone. And please title your threads. Imagine what this forum would look like if all the threads were titled like yours. I'd hate having a forum of scrambled askii art until once ever 143 years when the thread titles would like up to make an askii picture.

Technically it is an incline six as the BMW engine sits at a 30% angle. An inline six sits at 90% to the front sub frame.

Welcome to the forums. 300 hp is easily attainable through forced induction. The simple avenue is with a supercharger - $3,900.00 to $4,400 depending onthe brand. Your motor will easily produce 350 hp with a stage 1 supercharger kit. Remember to budget for suspension and break upgrades to handle this level of performance.
These guys don't know what they're talking about concerning maintanance nightmares. It's all about perspective. BMW's are very easy to work on if you understand them.
First, purchase a Bently manual for your car as it will be your first source "bilble" to DIY. Second, do a leak down test and compression test on the motor, if everything looks good then don't touch the engine. The big differance between Jap cars and BMW's is BMW's are built much stronger. The internals and head are more than strong enough up to 500 hp. Then you can consider messing with the inside.
Second, Bimmerforums is populated with 18 to 24 year olds that are not very hospitable to new members. Don't take offense to these guys that flame your posts. Post often and learn the etiquitte of the group. Also, search the forum posts before posting a question as most of the information your looking for has already been discussed. If you can't find it, most certainly ask for help.
Look to older members for guidance as most of these yahoos spew a lot of opinions and not to many facts. Do your homework.
Welcome to the group. Should you need any further help, please PM me.
