[1985 M635csi] Starting yesterday my inspection light has been flickering on and off. Previously the red lights were on very dim all the time, now the red lights flicker, sometimes the green ones, and the word "inspection". Is this a common problem or will I just have to tear into it? Why is the light in english, is this an add on to meet US standards? (german spec car)

Also I cannot set the time on my OBC. It just shows a dashed line when I push the time/date button and pushing the 1/10/100/1000 buttons does nothing.

And, at first my windows would go up and down without the key being in the car. I asked a friend who has a M635 and he said thats normal. But the next day they no longer will, the key has to be on. Whats going on there?

Thanks!

The lights mean its time to change the oil and get a tune up. I am not saying you don't tune it up but at certain intervals the car is scheduled for service and afterward the tech uses a tool to reset.Don't know about the OBC and windows.

I know how the light is supposed to work. It is not supposed to blink on and off rapidly. I don't think reseting the light is the solution here.

i think i've got the answers. with the blinking lights on the inspection light you need a new SI board(the batteries are going bad). for the OBC and theres a small pen sized hole with a tiny button and you gotta push it to reset the time. and the windows. its very funny when i first did it. when the door is OPEN they will go up and down with no key. when they're shut they wont move. or is vice versa.
