On the market for a new car at the moment - want something thats smaller than the E39 so its easier to drive in town and more economical (according to the OBC averaging 24.8mpg with the 528iA).

Since the 1 series has been facelifted, was looking at the new range of 2007 diesels to accompany the introduction of the 3door hatchback and the coupe/convertible. The 123d stats:

2.0 4 cylinder
205hp
295 ft-lb of torque
0-60 in 6.9 (7.0 for the coupe)
58.4 mpg (54.3 mpg for the coupe)

A diesel in a coupe...does it go?

That's what I would be buying if it was available in the states. I think that's a great combo.

Sounds good, we don't have the 1 series at all in the states. But that what is would want if we did. Even though we probably wont get the diesels for a long time, if ever.

The 123 is the way I'd go, were it available.

Of course, I'd prefer a 135d 5 door. They need to hurry up with that. :D

I'd personally go with a diesel and then proceed to throw absurd levels of boost at it.

Exactly, a buddy of mine has a Jetta TDI which has some aftermarket turbo and that things has tons of torque. All the while getting very good gas mileage :stickoutt.

If only they would realize that a great many in the states would love to have a diesel BMW. The 123d is a sleeper
